Consistent quality for the Gel Nimbus line
As a former runner and track coach I tried many shoes to find the ones that worked for me from a fit and comfort and injury prevention standpoint - I tried Nike, Adidas, Brooks, New Balance, and then stumbled upon the Asics Gel Nimbus 12. I have not owned every pair since, as the line of shoes is high enough quality you are hard pressed to wear them out in less than 2-3 years of constant use - I owned the 12s, 15s, 16s, 19, and now these, the Gel Nimbus 22s, and they continue to impress, getting better with each iteration. It has all the support and comfort of the big fluffy, pillowy early Gel Nimbus shoes and similar, but without the big garish pillows of foam that were so common place, giving it a lighter feel and a noticeable improvement in how elastic/bouncy it seems. He heel lock provides the tight feel I like without the issue many other companies/shoes have where it actually digs into your heel to the point of drawing blood - this one is firm yet comfortable and supportive. If you are looking for a shoe that will be kind to someone with a previous injury history, and/or are aiming for a solid training shoe for the 30-60 mile per week + cross/weight training, I would be hard pressed to imagine anything better. I cannot recommend this shoe, and the entire Gel Nimbus line from Asics, highly enough

Very comfortable, lightweight, nice looking.
I use this shoe for jogging/walking around my neighborhood on paved streets and sidewalks. Aside from being a very handsome shoe (blue w/black accents), it's also the most comfortable shoe I have ever ran in. It's an excellent walking shoe as well. Soft yet supportive impacts. My leg and foot pains have almost immediately gone away since I began using this shoe for my workouts. With most shoes I normally immediately replace the factory insole with my own insole support, but with this shoe the insole felt so nice I just left them in there. After 3 months, I'm still not regretting that decision. For those who pay attention to such things, my running/walking style is pretty foot straight with most of my stride pressure on center-outside from the heel to the forefoot. The shoe has no reflectors. Overall, a great runner at a great price. Zero regrets.

Great post surgery shoes.
ASICS Nimbus provides minimum discomfort to my feet after trimaculllar ankle surgery.

Has the AHH! factor - nice cushioned fit for walking on hard pavement.
I've bought this shoe several times over the last few years because it is well cushioned & great for rapid walking on hard pavement. I generally switch to these shoes (from my Brooks Glycerins) when I am having problems with my plantar fasciitis. Because of the cushioning, I don't like to use the Asiics Gel Nimbus for 'fitness classes' where I need to do various movements like repeated "heel raises" (standing up on toes) or shifting weight from side to side, because it throws me off a little compared to my Brooks Glycerins which have less cushioning underfoot that allow me better underneath feel. But the Asics Gel Nimbus are great for lots of walking on hard surfaces.

These shoes have a cult following for a reason!
I've put a few hundred miles on these Nimbus 22's, and they're just as good if not better than the previous versions of the Nimbus that I've owned (last version was the 14). I read a LOT of reviews before buying this version, and honestly it seems like dedicated Nimbus runners are 50/50 split on this version of the shoe. Some people LOVE them because they're similar or better to past versions of the Nimbus, others swear that the Nimbus shoe has gone downhill since version 17/18. Personally I've owned 3 pairs of Nimbus since my first pair of 11's, and they've never failed me. ALWAYS worth the $150 spent, and I'm usually able to put a few thousand miles of road running on these before they need replacing. I compared side-by-side with the increasingly popular Adidas UltraBoosts and this shoe wins for true running hands-down. I even converted a friend from Ultraboosts to Nimbus after he tried mine on and ran a lap around the block. Ultraboosts are very comfortable and have a lot of "cushion" underfoot, but simply lack the support and structure that really makes the Nimbus shine as a running shoe. I've tried every Nike, Adidas, Brooks, Saucony, and Asics shoe over the last few decades and the Nimbus continues to rule them all. I'm now a part of the cult following! Keep in mind that since Asics is a true running shoe brand (and not a fashion brand) their shoes are created to custom-fit your foot based on your level of pronation. I attached the Asics chart to help illustrate which shoes are designed to fit each level of pronation. Have a look and take advantage of Amazon Free Returns to try a pair on!

My current favorite walking/running shoe.
Why do I like this shoe so much? This shoe has enabled me to walk further and at a faster pace without getting sore feet as had happened with a couple of other major brands. I have some hilly sidewalks in my neighborhood and I usually walk fast, about 3 miles a day. The padding is thick enough to adequately cushion while not so thick that it interferes with feeling enough of the surface you are walking on. I credit the Nimbus with helping me stick to a 3 year regimen because my feet don't hurt anymore when I exercise. I wear a 9 1/2W dress shoe but need a size 10W in this shoe. Asics makes this shoe in an extra-wide (EEEE) in some styles, however the EE wide fits my wide forefoot and moderately high instep without being too wide on my more regular sized heel. My wife takes a 7 1/2N in other brands but needs an 8N in the Nimbus. We both started with the model 16 and own several of their other models through the 22. I preferred a thinner sole shoe when I was younger and thinner but these are more compatible with our 60's lifestyle now. My wife is thin and petite and I'm slightly overweight yet the Nimbus works great for both of us. These shoes aren't cheap but they last a long time and feel so good on my feet. I hope that they maintain high quality material standards and consistent sizing so that my wife and I can continue to enjoy them and have confidence in the Gel-Nimbus when it's time to replace. Asics, please don't mess with the toe-box. We both agree, the 16s and 22s were the best of the models we have owned. Just our personal opinion. Others were really good, but those were remarkable. Kudos! Continual process and product improvement enables loyal customers so please don't ever take the cheap route as some companies have. If you like Brooks or Solomon shoes but put on a few pounds, give your feet a break and try these out to get back in the game.

Spring-Loaded; Inconspicuous Arch; Gorgeous Look
If you're like me, you've seen these Gel-Nimbus shoes on other feet for years, looking better than any other running shoe. But if you're also like me, maybe you're old school and have resisted, thinking ASICS was likely delivering pure window dressing. At the low-risk price threshold of under $100, I finally succumbed, and I'm elated. Observations: (1) No exaggeration, this Gel-Nimbus 22 model feels lightweight and spring-loaded: The cushion and bounce-back when pounding pavement is remarkable. (2) Mesh fabric perforations throughout the shoe's body empower elite breathability. (3) I love its tread, which I'm fussy about for the same reasons I overanalyze tires -- I want maximized surface area contact, but I also want any rain/water pushed out from underneath me. (4) Wonderfully inconspicuous midsole. (5) Fit is true to U.S. sizing. (6) Looks great with jeans, too. This is an elite running/jogging shoe you have to try at least once, which is a good predictor for buying twice. Proceed to checkout! - (Was this of use? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

Theses shoes are simply outstanding. Well done team ASICS!
I hate to be the guy that uses superlative language about shoes for Pete's sake, but MAN these shoes are comfy. Normally I only ever pay $65-ish for shoes. These were $150 (!) but the stellar reviews made me take the leap, and glad I did. I even bought a 2nd pair a week later because I love them so much. These are the shoes I always wanted but never knew I wanted them. I work in a hospital 12.5hr shifts, on feet 90% of the time, even do a little jogging, and these are unlike anything I've ever worn. Lightweight, super hugging, no slop, soft sole- like a memory foam bed for your feet. I normally wear 10.5 and these fit perfectly. Maybe it's just that these are perfectly designed for my feet and arch, but I can't imagine a more comfortable shoe and that's no lie. I hope your experience is the same.
