How Plants and Trees Work: A Hands-On Guide to the Natural World (Explore the Earth)

Awesome book for elementary children
This book is amazing. I saw the pictures, but it's even more intriguing in real life. I bought this for my 8-year-old. The pop-ups are complex enough that even an adult will enjoy viewing, and it makes the topic anything but dry. The information content is just enough to entice and intrigue. (If using as a lesson supplement, you will want to encourage your child to "jump off" the book materials and investigate more.) The book provides a fairly well-rounded comprehension of topics, from plant cycles to plant extremes (stinkiest flower, largest tree, etc.). It includes pop-ups of tree canopy habitats, a pitcher flower, etc., with lots of pull-outs and mini-booklets and flaps. Your child will love this, and so (secretly) will you.

As Good as a Concept Science/Nature Book Could Possible Be
A pop up/lift the flap book based on the natural world? I'm all in! It manages to cover almost anything a child (or adult) might want to discover about plants, trees and the environment. Many of the most interesting plants in the world are named and illustrated. This includes my favorites such as the giant amazon water lily and monkey faced orchid. A variety of the world's coolest and smelliest plants are listed. There is also a section on which plants end up on your plate and all the ways we use plants. This title is done in a creative and fun way. I can see a child enjoying this book for hours +. It is definitely a guide that invites return viewing/reading. My new favorite science/nature children's book!
