I use the light weight version of a Thermacell burner when backpacking in the back country. Trust me no better way to keep mosquitos away than Thermacell. This specific burner first looks externally attractive but also functions! The bottom/black portion twists to light, turn on, or turn off. When turning, you feel and hear an audible click. It’s extremely easily to see if you successfully lit the burner with a clear orange glow through the view finder (picture five). Most important is keeps the bugs away. They say fifteen feet I’d give them a sold twenty. I would buy this again, I actually might buy a second, I have a large back deck area. I hope this was helpful.

Works as expected for keeping the mosquitoes away. I wish it had a switchable timer to shut it off after a predetermined time (1-3 hours would be ideal since the repellent pads are designed to last for at least three hours). It's easy to forget that it's on and to forget to shut it off (especially if you fall asleep). It's kind of a waste of resources (fuel) to wake up the next morning to find that you almost emptied the fuel cartridge. Also, I have noticed that if left outside and the overnight temperature falls to about 60° or less, the unit takes a few tries to to start. Also, don't leave this unattended in a place that gets direct sunlight for more than half an hour. Direct solar heat will obviously activate the pad and you'll come home to find that you need a new one. That warning may be in the instructions, but who reads those? Anyway, I like it and it does what I bought it for. I just have to be more diligent in shutting it off, at least until Thermacell gives me a timer, then I can go back to being my good old irresponsible self. Ciao!

Where we moved to the bugs are pretty bad most summers and I was avoiding going camping as often as we used to because it seems sprays and other options have had little to no affect on them. I took the chance on thermocells after seeing them highly recommended in hiking and camping groups. So glad I did because this is our new favorite thing. Easy to use and once it gets going, it keeps a good radius around us bug free!

This is a great product for outdoor use. I love to sit outside and read but until I got the Patio shield repellent I wasn’t able to this. Thanks for introducing me to this marvelous product

Bought this and was happy with it for about a week until the on/off mechanism broke. Now it works but won't turn off so I can only use it when I know I will need it for a long period of time - until the expensive full tank runs out. I would consider purchasing another brand.

Absolutely Amazing!!! It was an unbearable summer to be outside because of the mosquitoes here in Pennsylvania. Not anymore!!! We light it a few minutes before sitting outside and not one bite the entire time. I bought the metal one simply because I'm clumsy and could see myself kicking it or the dog knocking it down the steps. I feel like it should hold up if that would happen. Has no smell. I highly recommend this!!!

I would not order this item again. It never worked as expected. I should have returned the item, but did not use it within the return period.
