Muhammad was a Prophet not a State Politician or a Military Leader
Muhammad as a leader is a laugh-able proposition. He died without appointing or even giving ascent to any one for the crisis of leadership that followed. His Companions starting with first 2 Caliphs, saw the Caliphate descent in chaos, where the 3rd Caliph was killed and then it was followed by the fratricide during the time of the 4th Caliph. The 4th Caliph fought a war with Muhammad's allegdedly favorite Wife Aisha where muslims were at each others throats, and then he also fought with a Caliphate contender wannabe, Muawiyah b abi Sufyan, some thing that Muhammad predicted, that after the Caliphate the muslim polity will descend into Kingship, which is the norm in majority of arab Countries. Then also during the 4th Caliph there was another war with the Khawaraij I write all of this because this all stemmed from Muhammad's failure to even lay down any principle for the selection or election of a Caliph. The process of selection / election of the Caliph, i.e. successor was fraught with pre-Islamic customs, swords were drawn, threat were made, this is how the Community of Muhammad behaved, a leadership Community because Muhammad left it to his "companions" to tend to the matter. Muhammad is responsible for sectarian rift in Islam, if he had appointed a Successor we would not have seen the split of the muslim Community into sects. A leaders action also play a role, so as to preserve his own legacy, his legacy was tarnished, when his own Companions were killing each other, not to forget that Muhammad's own allegedly beloved wife, Aisha marched against the 4th Caliph. It is a sordid affair of Muhammads own poor leadership skills, as a man who received revelation and prophecized many a prophecies, he was fully aware that the Community will be descent into chaos, but he did nothing, he absolutely did nothing. Lastly, muslims are not even sure what he said or willed during his last days, when he was on hsi death bed. There is no single concrete narrative on what he said during his last sermon. Leadership, nah, a prophet yes, but onyl concerned with the here-after but nothing so to speak to cater to and address the fratricide that followed Muhammads death within 15 years of his passing away.
