Just having started a Hang gliding course (EP), this book is THE manual to study and own. Excellent breakdown of every aspect of this great sport.

Dennis Pagen has long been a hang-gliding guru, but times move on.This is an updated version of an earlier work, but its age still shows through. The BHPA pilots manual is a more current work, and if it's the only traning manual you're going to buy, you should buy that, but Pagen's book complements it quite well offering the occasional useful bit of detail that the BHPA book misses.

Hi there,I bought this guide since the issues in German were outdated and are not actualized anymore due to the Paragliding hype of the last years. Dannis Pagen has come up with the most complete and elaborate guide to hang gliding for beginners, with many clear hand drawn images and expert advice on many (seemingly) smaller things (for example how to set up the glider, providing a pre-checklist....). The book covers pretty much everything from beginner to intermediate skill and carefully explains everything there is to know in great detail(from the first flight to different starting methods, soaring, thermaling etc etc).I can only recommend this book if someone has just started to fly or for pilots that want to refresh their theoretical knowledge about flying ... everybody will find helpful advice in this book and it is just fun to read!

This book arrived to my address in Saudi Arabia about 6 days earlier than expected. Happy days!I haven't done any hang gliding since learning about 2 years ago, this book is a great refresher. I'm going again in a few weeks so needed some questions answered. It answers all the questions I have simply and clearly and I'm looking forward to getting more from my flying with my increased knowledge.I'd recommend it to anyone thinking about learning or who wants to understand more about gliding.Great book.Highly recommended.Ferg

I started HG 25 years ago and left if quickly (other things SCUBA on my mind). I decided to get back into it and bought this as a refresher before I retake the H0 classes. This book was fantastic. Yes - there are some type setting issues but the content is very informative and easy to follow. The one school I was looking to go back to said that they wished that they used this book instead of the cheaper one that they bought in bulk.

It seems pretty well put together, but it would be nice if the info was organized according to the level test you are going to take, which it is not. If you are just looking to learn more about flying, the book seems great but I wouldn't recommend it as test prep book.
