Can this hold an iPad mini and maybe a nintendo DS - together

I have the small version of this bag. Even with the expansion zipper zipped open, my Switch won't fit as the case I have for it is too tall to allow the front flap to close - it's about 2 inches short of closing (doesn't reach the velcro connection). The Switch alone (w/o case) fits - I mention this since there may be smaller Switch cases that I don't know about. Once could rig a solution by adding a strip of velcro to hold the flap down (use the kind with hooks on one side, loops on the other).. I don't have an iPad Mini, but my Fire tablet with it's bulky holder is very close in size - it's 8" X 5" X 3/4" (new iPad mini is 5.3") fits in the front pocket (under the flap). I can also fit my iPhone inside the zippered compartment in the flap. Also, with the items listed, there's no room for anything else other than $$ and a credit card or two. OTOH, judging from the listed measurements, the large version of this bag would definitely fit all these items

Can this fit a water bottle?

Depends on the size. A smaller standard 500mL bottle will absolutely fit in there. However, your big water cantine will not.

Can it hold an Ipad 3rd Gen?

I don't if it's big enough for an Ipad. It's still a cute purse and made very well. I also bought one for my God child and she just loves too. The width is about 7" and the height is 9". Good luck

Does this bag have an odor?

No, mine had none at all. It's not fancy, just practical.
