Great product, worth the $
Great transaction in every way. Worked so well, I bought another. So far so good. I've not had them long. But they were plug and play. The only confusing thing was that I'd never used this type of optical digital sound port. So it required a small bit of research, as the port door on my machines doesn't appear to be a match for the plug head on cable. Other than that, seamless.

Works great! No more bad sound quality!
I was having a difficult time hearing the sound from my tv. I considered a soundboard and also digital speakers before buying this DAC. It was very easy to hook up, and worked right away. I run it from a Roku tv to an Onkyo TS - 8020 stereo receiver then to my 38" Yamaha NS A98 speakers which I'd repaired by replacing the surrounds. Problem of bad sound quality solved. The Onkyo was getting hotter than I liked, so I bought the AC Infinity Multifan S7. I'd reccommend getting those as well. I'm very pleased with the DAC and the fans.

Great product, found a use case issue though.
Great product, worked as expected with clean crisp sound. I unfortunately did have to return it because I guess you could say it's not compatible with my Samsung TVs and what I wanted to use the converter for. With my older model tvs when selecting audio out it no longer allows you to control volume from the remote or even mute the audio. So if you're looking to hook up some simple external PC like speakers you manually need to adjust the volume. Not a issue of this product, but a use case issue to be on the look out for.

Simple and Effective DAC for Coaxial-to-RCA Conversion
I needed a device that could extract audio from a CD player via a digital coaxial cable and convert it to analog output for my mini amp using RCA cables. That’s when I came across this DAC with built-in digital-to-analog conversion. I thought—why not get a basic DAC that also handles the cable conversion I was looking for? There are both positive and negative reviews online about this product. One expert even called it “junk” with poor sonic quality, despite being a DAC. I chose to ignore that review because my primary need was the cable conversion functionality. After testing this DAC with my mini amp (which lacks a built-in DAC), I’m fully satisfied. The sound quality from the mini amp has clearly improved compared to when no DAC was used, and I now enjoy listening to my CD collection through this setup.Given its affordable price and reliable digital-to-analog conversion, I have no complaints at all.

Digital to analog device
I hooked this up to the TV to deliver sound to my home speakers in probably 20 minutes. It worked exactly as intended and for quite a reasonable price!

Great cheap optical converter, but be prepared for a decrease in volume
This converter works great. It feels really well built with a solid metal body, and the connections are simple and work well with no noticeable noise or loss in quality. It even comes with a short optical cable! For my specific use-case, I bought this because I noticed some faint electrical noise coming from my PC line out jack when playing games that needed a lot of resources, and this allowed me to pull from the optical jack on my motherboard and output with a 3.5mm cable to my studio monitor controller and straight into my monitors. This completely got rid of the electrical noise, and has been working great. Two minor complaints I have with this converter: it does not include a USB power supply, which is a bit annoying. However, it's really not picky about the type you have as long as it's a very common 5V 1A plug, and it worked totally fine with one I salvaged from an old electric razor. This converter also caused a noticeable decrease in volume. This would not be an issue in a lot of scenarios, but since I was going from my PC to an optical converter, then into a passive studio monitor controller that already decreased the volume a fair bit, I had to do some tweaking. All my settings were maxed out, so I had to turn to a free third-party program called Equalizer APO to add a +8dB gain boost on my primary audio output. The program is a bit weird to use but I got it working after some trial-and-error, so now it's close to the original output level I was used to.Overall, this is a solid converter and a great option if you need a no-frills optical-to-analog converter, as long as you have some extra headroom to allow for the decrease in volume.
