YESSSS!!!! 10/10
I saw the preview for the anime and decided to read the manga. The trailer itself was already epic, and I’m not surprised. This was so entertaining and exciting, I enjoyed every page. I’m so excited to read the next volumes, I haven’t been excited about another manga in a minute. I most definitely would recommend this. It’s action packed and the story is most interesting, it’s also really fast paced.

Shocked if this gets animated
This is relatively good as a mystery series. The sticky revenge trope is a nice added touch. All in all, it's a nice time waster type of read.

really stylish art, great atmosphere
I love what I've read so far, the action is pretty good, I find what little I've seen of the world interesting. The guy that smokes is pretty interesting and the girl(their names are hard to remember and spell). The series has really good designs, and atmosphere. It has a lot of elements of Mystery to it, and it's got class, a massive enjoyment. It actually reminded me a bit of some of the classics like Full Metal Alchemist and Tri Gun without being a clear knockoff. This was a fantastic first volume with lots of potential, can't wait for more

Promising Start
The Witch and the Beast has somewhat of a realistic art style. The tone of the art is a little dark but quite fascinating as this is a steampunk world.I went into this thinking it was a fairy-tale like romance but it definitely is not that. That’s not to say it is bad, it's just a whole different genre. It’s a bit like a supernatural police procedure in parts where revenge is a theme.Ashaf is this glamorous quiet man and first class mage while his reluctant partner Guideau is a very brisk harsh around the edges girl, or so it seems. They are of The Order of Magical Resonance, a group that works by magic, for magic, and of magic. Their job is to bring witches back to the order. If there's any kind of trouble with magic they are the ones to call. There is a specific reason Guideau is working for the order and it drives the whole forward action of the story. The dynamic between Ashaf and Guideau is part of what adds to the appeal of the story. They aren’t necessarily friends, but I wouldn't call them enemies either. I know that Guideau is very important to the story but I would really like to learn more about the mysterious Ashaf. There were three cases dealt with in this volume and there were some pretty neat dialogue peppered throughout. Overall this is a promising start to a very cool partnership and an important quest. I’m looking forward to the rest of the story.Special thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for my honest review.

Not a shoujo but definitely awesome!
This book was really different from what I thought it was going to be! Action, intrigue, and excellent art are all included. Do not be fooled- it is not a rom com! Though there are some lovely people on it. It is a dangerous quest to retrieve what was stolen by witches. High stakes! And a great mix of modernish day + magic (I like when authors do well integrating that in a believable way).

Could we get some emotion in here?
Did I go in expecting a Beauty and The Beast retelling? Yes.Am I pretty certain I missed the mark? Yes.Pros:I am very interested in this world, and especially The Order. The Idea of a "group that works by magic, for magic, and of magic" really intrigues me, and I want to know more about it. As well as magic in general. The two separate storylines depicted in these books were both fascinating. I found them enjoyable overall. The depictions of this world are gorgeous. It makes for an exciting backdrop.Cons:The characters, specifically Guideau:, all feel very flat, like nothing exists deeper than the surface level for them.I also worry that Guideau's story will end up being something along the lines of oh the witch trapped them in a girl's body to cause them to be weak or something like that which is far from appealing. The storylines feel rushed, not at all fleshed out, leaving you wanting more but not in a good way. Conclusions:I could very well not be the demographic for this manga. When giving opinions on anime and manga, I always try to make that clear since it is a place where things are very much written for a specific demographic. If you are looking for some awesome fight scenes and some beautiful art, I would definitely recommend this manga. I do think it has room to be an amazing manga series. But at least the first volume feels a bit flat.

Interesting twist of a fairytale retelling
Working for the Order of Magical Resonance, Ashaf and Guideau solve any magical problem that comes their way. Whether it’s murderous magical mischief or opening a chest locked by magic, the duo are on it. However, there’s more to the duo that meets the eye, and Guideau has some serious beef with any witch who crosses their path.I picked this up because it looked and sounded like an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast, and I was certainly not disappointed. It opens with a fast-paced story that demonstrates how evil witches are viewed in the world the characters live in. Of course, there’s a seemingly nice witch who turns out not to be all that meets the eye, and that’s when we learn why Guideau is furious with any and all witches. As the story progresses, we learn a tiny bit more about the Order of Magical Resonance, but not much. This volume is more of an introduction to the story than anything. Think of it as the opening episode to a new television series. It introduces us to the main characters and the plot, but it leaves its readers with many questions that will be answered throughout the series. I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as dark as it was, but I did still enjoy it. I plan on checking out the next volume and seeing where the story goes next.

Most underrated manga of the year
Picked this up on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I've just put down volume 4 and I can't wait for volume 5. This volume acts as a great introduction to the characters and world and volume 2 expands on this. I absolutely love this so far and just wish more people were reading it.FOR FANS OF...Generally I found it a blend of Buffy, Final Fantasy and Tokyo Ghoul with the artwork consistent with a Tokyo Ghoul level of quality.
