Awesome!!!
My son is 10yr old and talked about this thing everday until Christmas morning when it came down the chimney! This toy is pretty Awesome. It's what you would call one of those cool toys that everyone on the block wants. My husband seemed to really get a kick out of it. It does everything they say it does. It looks a bit like a large insect to me...Lol. (you'll see what I mean when you get it). My son even makes it dance! I'm just glad it works and has an extra battery pack. The batteries were included which is a plus and the frustration-free packaging was just as awesome as the toy itself. Santa thanks you Amazon :)

Work as advertised, was hoping it could have been a tad bit smaller
The product works as advertised. I dont know about the battery quality as my son havent had a chance to play it that often but two things that surprised me:1. it is faster than i thought.2. it is much bigger than expectedOtherwise, it is a really a fun toy and i found myself playing it on my front lawn and reluctantly handed the remote control to my son. I havent tried it on surfaces other than grass but on grass it works perfectly. Good job Mattel!!! I would give it a solid 5 stars if the size is a bit smaller so it will be easier to carry it around.

Very dissapointed
I bought this car for my 5 years old son wich I gave him for christmas. He was Very excited and wanted to try it in all terrains. It worked perfect on grass, sand, and on the street. But guess what happened when he tried it in a swimming pool?Well just after taking it out from water, the car stopped working and when I opened it, the battery compartment was completely full of water. And I have to say That me and my husband checked that it was properly closed before placing it in the water. The car never ran again! Even when it was dry. This was very frustrating, my son was so sad! He wished every day his car get fixed and that was the only reason I got another one.Well here is my recommendation: the car is great, easy to handle even for a little boy, it moves and sounds very funny. But remember: it is a car, not a boat!!!!! So DON'T TRY IT IN THE WATER! It will sank and so your money.

Really Cool On Water, Battery Compartment Gets Wet
My kids loving driving this around in the pool, (when they can get it away from me). It doesn't do well in grass that is ready for a mow. As mentioned in the title, Mattel didn't do a good job keeping the battery compartment from getting water in it so the inevitable splashes of water that occur can leak into the compartment. My sons car stopped working after water getting to the battery compartment area a few times. Mattel customer service was excellent, I paid nothing for shipping replacements. They got us a brand new in box car in very short time after we tried a new battery (which they also shipped).I subtracted one star because it doesn't really do well on land, and one star because of the design flaw with the battery compartment not being sufficiently sealed for a toy advertised for use on water. Mattel's fantastic customer service in paying for shipping and replacement of batteries and the car redeem the remaining stars.

Fell extremely short of expectations
I have read quite a few reviews on this toy before I bought it. It is actually a great concept but it spends so much power to move that battery becomes empty after a few minutes. Then the charger has no indication of battery being charging being completed so you have to keep a timer on how long you keep it there. I bought Maisto Rock Crawler along with this one and much better option in my view. I should have returned this one.

Fantastic!
This was a birthday present for our eight year old and he loves it! It's super fast on flat smooth surfaces kinda slow on the more rocky terrain but it went through the snow and ice and mud puddles! If you live in the country like we do and have no flat smooth areas outside to play with remote control cars this is what you want, speed means nothing to our son since it actually moves in our yard without getting stuck. There is a video that explains how to use this toy I'd suggest watching it because the car is made to move certain ways on certain surfaces example it goes straight on a rougher surface vs concrete where it only goes horizontal. It's also already been dropped numerous times and ran into furniture and it's still holding up. I also love that it came with all it's own batteries. We broke into the box before wrapping and charged the battery for about 10 hours and it's still going. Amazing buy!

great little rc
The thing comes with all necessary batteries and chargers for use so you can have this mailed directly to gift recipient without having to worry they'll open a toy without being able to use it. The thing isn't meant to go straight which seems to be a major complaint from other reviewers, it's made for doing cookies and tricks across water and mountainous, rough terrain. If you understand what this toy is about and use it for what it was designed for it's a lot of fun.

Finally, and RC car for the country kids!
I tend to doubt any toy that is advertised heavily on TV, but after lots of letters to Santa and reading the reviews I decided to try out the Terrain Twister. We have had a number of RC cars & trucks and most don't last more than a few weeks, because we live in the country and most don't have the guts to make it up the hilly, muddy, grassy and gravel areas in our "yard." We have no cement, and no flat hard areas. So when I read other reviewers that said it sucks on flat areas, but is great on different terrains...I said, "SOLD!" It snowed Christmas morning...as requested by my 9 year old...and the Terrain Twister worked AWESOME on it. In under 5 minutes my son was doing all the tricks you see on the commercials and driving it sideways. It is bigger than I expected and seems pretty well built. The batteries last about an hour, so you have to plan to charge it for at least 3 hours. We can't wait to see it "swim" in the pond when the ground thaws.
