Fiskars IsoCore 4 lb Sledge Hammer for Demolition and Driving with Shock Reduction, 14 in

Just came in the mail. Seems as well built as some of the more expensive brands, and let’s be honest, it’s just cooler looking. Giving it 5 stars. Can’t wait to use it on the iron at work. Yay!

I use it for splitting logs, and it works great. It might be worth your while to go to a store and physically pick one up first because it's a bit more difficult to lift than I assumed. I think the sledgehammer I was using previously was 6-8 lbs. I'm going to continue to use it because it delivers lots of power per strike, but it is something of a workout for me. I realize they do tell you it's a 10 lb. hammer, so it's on me that I didn't realize how heavy that feels. I do lift weights regularly during the winter, so I should have known better. The head is 10 lbs., and the total weight of the entire tool is 12.5 lbs.

I plan to start doing some gold prospecting with my childhood buddy. I felt that a good, small sledge might come in handy. I didn't want a cheap one that might break. So I went with a brand that I am familiar with, and I don't regret it one bit. This thing is built like a brick.... well, you know. I'm glad I have it. It can be used for many things besides cracking boulders.

The grip on the handle is comfortable and ergonomic and the shaft is strong but lightweight. I needed a heavy hammer to split larger logs on my stand-up log splitter. It was a little unwieldy at first. It's huge and heavy compared to my 3 lb. hammer but after a few dozen tentative swings I was able to learn how far away to stand and now I'm swinging it like a lumberjack. I've used it to split dozens of large diameter rounds into fire pit ready splits for my smoke-less outdoor pit. It still looks great, showing only slight signs of wear but no splintering or anything like that. I'm very happy with this purchase.

You will literally want to find heavy stuff to hammer! I use mine for ground stakes and fencing tasks. Great product.

It’s a good sledge hammer. I didn’t get the wedge side though. I got an axe side. For my purposes that may come in handy, but i was confused to receive a sledge axe instead of the demo sledge.

The media could not be loaded. Need a sledgehammer?? This is the one! I've tried a variety of sledgehammers including different weights 6lb, 8lb, 16lb... and different handle materials. The Fiskars claim that you feel less of the impact from every strike is true. It is a stark difference in some with some other handle materials and depending on what you are hitting. The grip is comfortable and allows for good hand holds and free movement. The weight is nice, and it's perfect for all sorts of projects and demo work. The flat face is great for knocking things down or away, and the wedged face is great for breaking things apart. Fiskars also offers a lifetime warranty with this product should anything happen which is unlikely. I'm super happy with this purchase!
