Drill America - KFDRSD9/16 9/16" Reduced Shank High Speed Steel Black & Gold KFD Drill Bit with 1/2" Shank, KFD Series

I had to open up some 12mm holes and used this but to pre-drill for a 14mm ream. It easily drilled through both 2.5" long steel parts and still feels sharp. It's made of much nicer tool steel than some I'm bought on Amazon and at big box stores.I used a half inch brushless Ryobi hand drill.

First, drilling through 1/4” steel on a offset smoker is tough and timely especially with a 7/8 drill bit. But with a little oil and patience it worked like a charm- Highly recommended

This bit is a beast. Drilled 275 holes with a mag drill on 1" plate. Used Tap Magic cutting fluid and went slow.Very impressed. Still sharp and ready for more

Each bit lasted longer than Milwaukee Colbalt in thick stainless steel.

Very sharp. Worked for 20+ holes so far in steel and aluminum

Was very shocked how sharp it was still after cutting 5 holes

I like that these drill bits come in 1/64" increments, have a reduced 1/2" shank and have flattened jaw landings, machined into the shank to prevent chuck slippage. I have used these on wood and steel, they work great for both.
