Updated - was "almost worthless"
Update 1/24/15:I was pleasantly surprised that Belkin customer service replied to my original review (below). Even though I had purchased the cable over a year ago, they sent me a replacement, and the new one works great! I must have gotten a faulty one the first time. So if you get a funky cable that doesn't charge reliably, do yourself a favor and call Belkin's customer service department. This experience has convinced me to continue buying my electronic cables from Belkin.Original review:Rarely works. If it does work, it only works when it's in a specific position, with the cable ends exactly perpendicular to the usb plug and the phone. Totally does not work when plugged into the computer. Thanks a lot, Apple! Thanks to your stupid chip in the cable, after-market cables are essentially worthless. Way to get us to fork over THIRTY EFFING DOLLARS for an extra charging cable, which you KNOW everyone needs. Greedy a-holes.Extra star is because the plug fits even with my iPhone case on.

Belkin fixed it - now MFI certified, works great with Apple devices
UPDATE: This cable is now MFI certified and works GREAT.... well made and works every time. At this point there are tons of MFI certified cables on Amazon, so shop around for price. But wanted to bring this from one star up to 5 stars given they have fixed this issue.I'll join the chorus as this seems to be happening to many of us.... This is not Apple certified according to my iPhone 5s.... it worked for about a week and now when I plug it in to charge it (forget sync'ing) it says it's a non supported accessory and may not work. It does not work. Suggest you get the Amazon Basics USB cable instead... works GREAT! AmazonBasics USB A to Lightning Compatible Cable (3 Feet/0.9 Meter)The cable manufacturers are really having a hard time complying with Apple's newest protocols to prevent us from using non-Apple cables.Hope this helps.

Belkin Lightning Cable: Works Faultlessly For Me
I understand that Apple products can be finicky about what cables and devices they accept, which is frankly one reason I am not an enthusiastic Apple fan. Having said that, I have had fewer cable compatibility issues than it seems that others have. I have generally used Apple-branded cables, but this time decided they weren't worth the expense after my Apple-branded USB charge/sync cable that came with my iPhone 5 frayed and then came apart immediately above the Lightning terminal connector. I bought this Belkin cable as a replacement and have had no problems charging or syncing with it. As a bonus it seems, if anything, more durably constructed than the original Apple cable although the Lightning connector fairing appears to be slightly larger than on the original Apple cable. This is of no consequence to me, and if it can prevent another cable from coming apart in that exact spot, it's actually a plus for me.I bought the 4' cord length which is adequate for almost all applications, but in retrospect wish I had bought a longer variant as some hotels have awkwardly placed electrical outlets and 4' occasionally doesn't cut it. I have had no technical issues with this cable whatsoever, but deducted a star from its rating due to it being more expensive than some other brands.

It broke after 2 uses…
I purchased this belkin cable some time ago but opened the box for the first time this week. The durability is none, I used only twice before it broke in two… the metal part was still inserted in the iPad. I do not recommend this product, no value for your money especially because you might have to pay for your iPad to be repaired if the metal part stays stuck in the device (I’m glad we were able to remove it!). Not sturdy at all.

Perfect replacement without the cost
After upgrading our phones from the 4/4s to the 5s, these cables compliment the charger without the outrageous cost as those sold by Apple. Although Belkin is a US Company, these cables were shipped from China, on the slow boat of course! We did have to wait about 4-6 weeks for delivery, but the saved cost was worth the savings. We have several chargers, by the bed, the office, the vehicles, and those at work. No issues thus far with the cables or as reviewed - falling apart. These are quality and the length are about 8" longer than the original cables provided by Apple.

No longer works after 2 years of limited use
Well I guess I might be jumping in too soon since I've only had this cable for a day, but so far I'm impressed. Right out of the box the cable seemed better put together than the one that came with my iPhone 5s. The end pieces are secure and don't feel as flexible as the Apple cable (which to me is better). My old iPhone 4 cable eventually bent to the point where there was a tear in the cable coating, exposing the wires. But this Belkin cable seems better protected on each end. I've charged it using the USB on the computer and an AC power adapter with no problem. Also synced to computer using iTunes, again, no problem. I'm not sure why some reviewers are getting the "accessory not supported" message when using this cable. Maybe some products are being shipped out that are not authentic Belkin cables, but I'm only guessing. Can't beat the price compared to other cables on the market. Hopefully this one holds up for long time.EDIT: Tried to sync to iTunes again and got the accessory not supported message. I ejected my iPhone and re-connected and it worked. No error message and I was able to sync.EDIT 12/14/15: Downgrading review to 1-star. The cable has stopped working. Plug in iPhone to charge and the charge indicator comes on, but the iPhone doesn't charge. I should have known something was up from the start. The cable would not always work unless plugged into device in the same direction (Belkin logo up). It eventually stopped being able to sync to iTunes, but still worked to charge. I figured, for the cheap price, at least it's a charging cable. Now complete failure after 2 years of limited use.
