Great Spin-down filter!
I am so glade I chose Express Water Ultimate Protection Whole House Water Filter System.

good value
Installed and works as expected. I like the fact that they give you a spare o-ring for the filter housing. The build quality is excellent and the purge valve is smooth in operation. No problems so far. I am on a well and this is filtering the sediment and bits of rust from a really old well pipe from the early 1940's.

Works great
Easy solution for course sediment from well water. Installed before water softener and flushed every other week. After a few months I had to disassemble and clean screen. Works great!

Great product easy to install!
Was easy to install while I was re pluming my filtration system. Easy clean out and does not restrict flow.

The filter gets air bound if the water supply is air saturated at high pressure.
I have installed two of these filters at my house, where the municipal water supply is 120psi and air saturated. When the water goes through the pressure reducing valve (required because this filter is only rated to 90 psi), air comes out of solution and sits in the filter housing...thus blocking water flow. By having this filter in line, I would have to depressurize the house and bleed the air from the filter housing once a day.Not a good thing.

Leaks! Bad customer service. Go with a different brand.
Worked ok for a year although the bottom valve had a small, slow leak which I remedied by simply tying a knot in the rubber hose I attached which was used for flushing. But about a year later I noticed a large puddle under the unit (it's in a closet so I don't look often). Turns out the gasket seal failed between the brass valve and clear plastic housing. It looks like there may be small cracks in the plastic housing, I wish I had noticed them before the return window expired. I suggest you look closely in this area before installing.Anyway I figured the manufacturer would be happy to send me a replacement part to fix the leak since it's obviously a defective housing, but no, they refuse to offer any help, hiding behind their 1 year warranty. Their suggestion is to buy a completely new unit. Unfortunately the upper brass part is plumbed in so I don't want to replace the whole unit, only the plastic housing. I may see if an iSpring or similar unit has compatible parts, but I refuse to buy another full unit from "Express Water."
