Otafuku Okonomiyaki Kit- Includes Okonomiyaki Flour and Okonomiyaki Sauce for Japanese Savory Okonomiyaki Pancakes (1 Kit)

Got this kit for my daughter, because she makes a lot of Japanese dishes and this kit makes it fast and easy to make, the flavor is delicious.

I went to college in Japan for a semester about 25 years ago, and after that I never really got enough okonomiyaki here in the States. This kit was actually terrific. You just need cabbage and some meat, and then you can go nuts with okonomiyaki. My kids love it. Personally I like to switch around what meat I'm putting in - instead of bacon or pork strips, I'll drop in thinly sliced chicken, meatballs (sliced), or pork chop. Basically anything that's chopped thin will go great in this. Get a frozen meat slicer and the world is yours. Oh - a trick is to drop a layer of ramen noodles into your okonomiyaki. It goes great.

I ordered this because I knew I'd never find it in stores with how empty the shelves are right now. I wanted something different to do with the kids for dinner. It came to us in a padded envelope and the box had been busted open from impact of other packages. The packets inside were still intact with no breaks so it was ok to use. The mix was easy to understand and the sauce was delicious. My kids and I loved it. We topped with bonito flakes, green onions, and kewpie mayo.

I should have read the 1 star reviews. My package was expired with a Best by date of March 2024.

The kit is great. However, I gave it a 3 stars bc for the price it's pretty high for a packet of flour and two small sauce packets. With that being said. For just trying out, it is a good idea for if you wanna get an idea of okonomiyaki. It's good and I specifically chose this one bc it has okonomiyaki sauce. The sauce is often pretty high at Asian stores(it is imported) so I understand why. But for exploring the taste and spending I wouldn't buy it alone. Now? I'd buy it to go along with my Japanese mayo. It is worth the $4 depending if you like it.The kit is high for a serving of 2 but it has the okono sauce which really adds the flavor. Nwxt time I am investing in okonomiyaki flour as it is one thing not at my Asian store.

I ordered this again because I really love this easy to make lunch or supper. My advice is getting and using a prepackaged bag of fresh cabbage instead of shredding your own. Most of those bags of cabbage come in 10 oz sizes that are perfect and the size they ask for.

I have had these while visiting Japan, so I was very excited to be able to make them at home. Everyone loved them!The second time I made them, instead of using Cabbage, I made a mixture of chopped cabbage and grated carrots; and since I was out of green onion, I used a yellow onion. Again, they were enjoyed by all!They are simple to make, and the sauce is in the box. Highy recommend!

We wanted to try okonomiyaki from watching YouTube videos. Then I found this kit and whipped up a batch. Very tasty stuff!
