greatest thing since sliced bread
This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have health issues which render me easily tired. Therefore, it is an ordeal for me to wash and style my hair frequently. I had heard of dry shampoo many years ago and forgot about it until recently when I was browsing the web. I decided to try Batiste because it consistently received the best reviews. I love this product. It's taken very little trial and error for me to determine how best to apply it. I first purchased the Batiste clean & classic original variety. After the first application it was clear to me that I would never spray it indoors again. The aerosol and the odor were overwhelming to me. I aired out my bathroom and asked my husband what my hair smelled like. He said the fragrance, once in the hair, is barely detectable unless one is up close and deliberately trying to smell the hair. To me, the odor of the clean & classic original is reminiscent of a cross between laundry detergent (that generic "clean" scent that we've been programmed to recognize) and baby powder - not things I want to smell like. Mercifully, only my bathroom smelled like that after application rather than my hair. So, since that first time, I apply the product while standing outside on the balcony. This is an enormous improvement. I later ordered the Batiste Tropical which smells like coconut which is more pleasant to my senses. The aerosol application is strong, so you'll need to hold the can about a foot (30cm) from the head to apply. Do not over-apply the product. A little goes a long way. You can always apply more, but if you first apply too much, you will get a build up of white powder which will be difficult to remove without washing your hair with water. I apply the product in about eight sections: bangs, either side of face, and then a few shots at the crown and back. You'll only need to depress the pump for a second to get a good blast of product. Massage the product into the scalp with the fingertips and then brush through. I've found that brushing my hair upside down is the best way to distribute the product and also to allow any excess to fall away. I can brush through my hair with the product as easily as I would without - it doesn't make my hair sticky or tangled. Clean your brush of hair and then rinse after each brushing as you will see a buildup of white powder on the brush. (You don't want to brush your hair with a brush full of old, oil saturated power!) Since I've been using Batiste dry shampoo, I've been washing my hair once per week and my hair looks full and clean throughout the week. I've attached a photo of my hair after five days without washing, only using Batiste dry shampoo. (I have a bit of grey in my hair - not to be mistaken with any product buildup.) This stuff has made my life easier. P.S. I've since tried the cherry scent and I found it to have the least strong odor. It's my new favorite.

Works and smells lovely
For some reason I was hesitant to try dry shampoo. I'm not sure what was wrong with me. I don't know how I lived without it for so long. I very often have bangs and, especially in the summer, by the afternoon they look pretty stringy. I thought I would just have to live with it. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! That's why dry shampoo was made!I really like the way this stuff smells. I was going to get the unscented one, but then I realized that I happen to like things that smell nice. As the name suggests, it smells tropical. Like coconut and all other things wonderfully tropical. I can smell it for a few minutes after I spray it in my hair but then the smell goes away. I've never had an issue with it leaving a white residue in my hair, but I only use it on my bangs since the rest of my hair is dreaded. I did spray it on my boyfriend's hair one time and he did look a little gray for awhile, even after we combed and fluffed it. His hair is a bit darker than mine, and maybe that's why it was more visible on him. Or I used a bit too much. Either way, his hair sure looked clean. At first I didn't think it worked, but then I realized I just needed to use more. Then my bangs looked freshly washed. I was actually able to go two days without washing my hair. *Gasp!* I've never, ever, been able to go that long without washing my hair. I gotta say, it feels great to have hair that still looks and feels clean a day later.Well, I'm sold. This dry shampoo works and it smells good. What more could I want?

For the price, size and effect, this is my go-to dry shampoo.
While this is not my favorite dry shampoo, it is the one I use most often. Dry shampoo is something I go through pretty fast. While I do tend to wash my hair just about every day, there are days when I need my hair to be a little dirty in order to get the right texture and hold for a style. With some planning I spray this in my hair the day before and again when I wake up the next day before styling. This gives me hair a clean look and smell. It soaks up oil, is easy to apply and rub into my roots, and gives me the texture I need. It's perfect in a pinch when you just need to get out the door. Batiste comes in a variety of scents and the topical is a favorite of mine. It's sweet and fruity while also reminding you of the beach. Though the scent doesn't linger, it covers the heady smell you may get from having to skip a wash. My husband has commented on my hair smelling nice (and our bedroom too) while this was the dominate scent of my hair. However, like many dry shampoos, this is white and can show up on your hair if you use to much and don't really rub it out. While I have tried the colored formulas from Batiste, I have a hair shade that just doesn't work with them (a very cool, ash, light brown). The while powder blends in better with my light and cool undertone, but requires a keen eye to not over apply. When I need a good bit of product, I will apply in light layers, rub it in and apply another light layer, then repeat until I get the look that I want. Those that use dry shampoo know how quickly you can go through it. There are months where one bottle is all I need and months where I might need several. I have noticed with Batiste I seem to get more product in their cans than I do with my favorite one. At its price point this is absolutely bomb. A can last me about 2 months which tells me that my favorite formula is possibly lying about the amount in their can and is overpriced for what I am getting. While this item takes a little more work for me to get the look and texture I need then my favorite, it's can longevity and price has made it my primary Dry Shampoo. I would rather spend $6 every two months and spend a little more time rubbing out the product, than spend $18 on a can I can run out of in as little as 2-4 weeks that applies a little better.I highly recommend this product. They also have mini travel sized ones available, which DAMN, I wish more companies offered that option. Though the mini version doesn't have the range of scents and colors the full sizes offer, being able to pack a small 4ish-inch can is WAY better than packing a full size. Keep the travel size in mind if you travel often.
