Take it to the waves with the GBX100 smartphone-linked timepiece inspired by natural beach colors. From the G-LIDE sports line for the world’s top surfers and extreme sports fans. Just select one of 3,300 surf spots around the world on the dedicated smartphone app and send tide patterns, daylight conditions, and other location-specific information to the watch. The wide watch face with high-resolution Memory in Pixel (MIP) LCD provides the same clear readings of tide graphs and moon age as previous models, as well as high/low tide times and levels, and sunrise/sunset times — all at a glance. Surfers who compete in tough competitions around the world appreciate both training and surfing functionality. The GBX-100 tracks distance traveled, pace, laps, and cadence, as well as a whole range of surfing metrics, all delivered straight to your wrist. The bezel, a fusion of resin and metal, is designed for distinction. Contrasting honing and hairline finishes on the stainless-steel upper bezel add the final touch to a sporting timepiece that delivers both strength and a sharp, elegant look. With unstable environments in mind, the watch features a resin guard structure to withstand impact from above, below, and both sides, as well as a guard structure for the button at the 6 o’clock position, to deliver all the shock resistance you expect from a G-SHOCK. The band is made of soft bio-based urethane with a slit at the base of the 6 o’clock position, for a better fit and the water and sweat runoff that makes for comfortable wearability so you can concentrate on riding the waves. Choose your favorite G-LIDE in one of two natural beachy colors — the beautiful blue of the ocean or the soft sandy beige of the beach.

Great screen legibility, smartphone connectivity, VIBRATE INTERVAL TIMER, great style
Let me preface this review with the fact that I am not a surfer, and will probably never use all the tide patterns and light condition data, but, after trying the iPhone and Samsung smartwatches, I was looking for a shock-resistant phone (I am very clumsy, plus I work out a lot at the gym, and in the garden, and cannot be bothered with a fragile phone) and, most importantly, one that I do not have to take off when getting into the shower. Another important feature I was looking for was an interval timer function that had VIBRATE, rather than sound for interval and tabata workouts...the constant beeping is annoying and distracting. I also wanted a soft rubber wristband, as my skin is sensitive easily irritated by hard wristbands. Last, but not least, since I am middle aged and have less-than-perfect reading vision I was looking for a highly legible screen with a backlit function that would not turn off instantly...voila', this watch complies with all my requirements PLUS it is absolutely great-looking. The interactivity with the watch is limited to a few types of notifications, but not a deal-breaker. It also has a step counter that works quit well and various fitness tracker functions. If I have one complaint, it is the complete lack of information about the distinguishing features between all the watches both on the Casio site and Amazon's that had me pore through hundred of reviews to figure out the essential features and almost caused me to miss this gem. Other than that, I am in love with my new watch.

Favorite watch
I recently made the switch to a G-Shock and haven't looked back. The G-Lide, in particular, has become my daily companion. Its rugged durability, comfortable fit, and stylish design make it perfect for both outdoor adventures and everyday wear. I especially appreciate the Bluetooth connectivity, which allows me to easily access sun and surf information right from my wrist. If you're looking for a reliable, versatile watch that can keep up with your active lifestyle, the G-Lide is a fantastic choice.

Dark teal, great screen, g shock move app is slow
The teal is nice and darker than I thought it would be, which is a good surprise. The strap is softer than the usual casio straps but not nearly as flexible as any silicone straps I'm used to. The size is similar to my timex expedition m540. The screen is bright and ledgible in all lighting conditions. The price is definitely justifiable considering it's high quality look and feel while on sale, but retail is too high imo. I wouldn't classify it as a smartwatch by today's standards but if you only want something for a brief notification and some basic but cool set of features, then this is for you.

Great alternative to a smart watch, but a no go if you are far-sighted
I purchased the G-Shock after breaking my Apple watch because I wanted to simplify my life and not depend on a snooping wearable smart device. However, the interface of the G-Shock is difficult to see without my reading glasses and the display doesn't allow for size adjustment. The backlight doesn't offer much to improve visibility either. It's a shame because I liked not having to charge a device every day, and the bluetooth connection to my phone with notifications was a great feature.

Gorgeous but bigger than expected
Awesome looks, the quality of the strap is really good. I really like it but it is a bit bigger than the classic DW-5600 so for my 6.5 inch wrist looks a bit big but I wear it anyways since Gshocks are supposed to look tough

Great design and legibility
This watch pretends to be a smartwatch. Ok I have downloaded the app and set it up. I do find it convenient I can synchronize the time with my phone. Otherwise - it’s no Apple Watch, and when I decide I want it, I will get one. What I DO care for,— this watch has fantastic design. It’s really beautifully made. One of its display modes presents time in huge font. I’m 43, my eyesight is not what it was twenty years ago, and I appreciate that.It also can show world time / two time zones at a time, which I find handy. The dark teal color is my favorite. There is no other that they offer, so it’s a lucky coincidence. What else. It has an alarm with vibration function. Also a plus. It’s 200m water resistant- good for swimming and moderate diving.Bunch of other functions I don’t care for, for which I probably paid extra, but it is what it is.I do recommend this watch if you are looking for a beautiful design, high contrast / good legibility and water resistance.

Excellent transition away from smartwatches
I’ve worn a watch since I was a kid in the late seventies. Got my first Casio in the early eighties. I finally caved in 2018 and bought an Apple Watch. Six years and three Apple Watches later, I was missing the simplicity of wearing just a normal watch. I love this G-Shock! The negative display is excellent and clear at all angles. Granted, I only use the app for step-tracking and don’t use any of the notification features. After all, my intention with this watch was to move away from the constant distractions of a smartwatch. After four months of wearing the only scuffs are on the bezel, where they belong.
