Well made substantial model.
This is a quality model, true in detail. The fact that it separates theCM from the SM and the LM makes it ideal for educational purposes.

It is exquisite
It arrived in perfect condition. It is glorious. I love it. I've been reading "The Apollo Guidance Computer Architecture and Operation" by Frank O'Brien now, and it talks about the thrusters that are mounted on the LM, SM, CM, and I just had to get this beautiful model to better appreciate the flight and the control that the astronauts had on the different aspects of the mission. All the little radar antennas were attached together and plugged right into the CM. I am just amazed at the level of detail on the 3D parts of the antennas and things on the LM. Everything fit together perfectly. I am very happy. Thank you!In the real spacecraft, on the way from the Earth to the Moon, they had a Thermal Roll going on where they spun at 4 degrees per minute, one full spin in an hour. Wouldn't that make for a nice addition to this model, so that you could just sit there and watch it roll, and think. It would take a motor, maybe some gearing, and it would have to be as tough as the current model, so a new steel bar and something that locks all the pieces into a firm one-spacecraft combination as it slowly rolls around its center line, flying from the Earth to the Moon. I would buy this upgrade to the base.

A Fair Wood-and-Wire Display Model
This is a neat ready-to-display model that will look good on any desktop. Mine arrived completely intact, literally triple-boxed and carefully packed in soft foam. The command module, service module, lunar module ascent stage and lunar module descent stage are all separable components (though alignment pins are visible on the LM descent stage when separated). A separate CM docking probe allows you to display the CSM and LM separately if desired (see photo). To display docked, a solid metal rod securely holds the CSM and LM together in nice, straight alignment. However, this is also a partly fragile model that you will not want to be routinely assembling and disassembling. I will claim to be VERY careful with my stuff, but the high-gain antenna lasted literally 30 seconds out of the box before I managed to break off one of the four discs. However, a drop of super glue got me back in business, and as delicate as this part is I do not fault the manufacturer—it’s just thin and delicate.Do not expect quite the same level of detail as in a plastic model kit. While this model comes close, everything is rougher, especially the gold foil around the LM leg struts which looks downright sloppy in places upon close inspection. The CM is probably the best-detailed piece, complete with handholds and well-detailed markings. Painting is a bit sloppy in a few spots as well (see the LM dish antenna close-up). I had also been planning to purchase the 1:72 Mercury Redstone Executive Series Models Mercury Redstone Rocket Model Kit (1/72 Scale) and Mercury Atlas Executive Series Models Mercury Atlas Rocket Model Kit (1/72 Scale) in Daron's same Executive model series, but having seen this wooden model and reviews elsewhere stating that the quality of this model series has dropped, I’ve decided I can actually do better myself and will instead be purchasing the Horizon plastic model kits for the Mercury Redstone Horizon Models 1/72nd scale Mercury-Redstone Plastic Model Kit and Mercury Atlas Horizon Models 1/72nd scale Mercury-Atlas Plastic Model Kit .However, if you are looking for a large 1:48 scale CSM + LM, this is the only game in town. And despite being a bit rough around the edges, I will say that from more than a foot or two away none of the mentioned flaws are noticeable. I am satisfied (though not ecstatic) with my purchase, and overall this model looks good and its size is sure to impress.Note: Although the scale is larger at 1:35, the 4DMaster Lunar Rover 1/35 Lunar Rover with Astronaut Snap Kit looks great displayed next to this model and I've added a photo.

Very details, bigger than you think
I regularly present talks about astronomy and space exploration at a local astronomical society to groups of various ages and purchased this model to illustrate a couple of talks on the Moon and space exploration. I must admit when it arrived I was amazed at the quality of the packing, it should be virtually impossible for it to be damaged in transit. When assembled, the model is much larger than I expected, the two craft together are about as long as your forearm. Both craft are quite detailed and each component detatches, the command module clips onto the service module and the LEM descent and ascent modules also couple together. The LEM can then be mounted to the metal pin on the end of the command module, however, this attachment is a little "loose", so be careful when showing it as the LEM may fall off in your hands. Each component has a number of very small, and fragile, parts so be very careful if you allow small children to touch it. All up though, this is a great model, but for adults only.

Expensive for what it is but at same time where else can you get something like this
It’s not bad. From a distance it looks great and perfect to let people know you are an Apollo nut. But if handle it don’t expect it to be NASA quality lol. It serves a purpose I like it anyway always puts a smile on my face and reminds me of my child hood because that’s what it’s really about
