Timeline of World History Review: Great timeline and study for history buffs - Nice visual representation of world history in a large chart and a studyable text from the phd Matt Bakers popular youtube channel. This is a secular work and uses careful verified archaeological evidence and has numerous images of artifacts and their signifcance to current history understanding. I became fascinated with the deciphiring of cuneiform from the sumerians which was much harder to decipher then egyption and has some form of the storys that are repeated in the bible a thousand years later. So I wanted to better understand what existed in the earliest civilizations. This book helps to share what and how civilization progressed. Review: Every home should have a timeline! - We homeschool, so this has been a great addition to our curriculum, but I think every family should have one of these. Kids are not being taught history anymore, and most I encounter have no frame of reference for when major events happened, and that's if they've even been taught about those major events! When they can see how long (or short) a time has passed between developments and events, it really helps give them a proper sense of perspective so they don't assume everything that is has always been or always will be--sobering and humbling, and also important if you want them to care about history at all.

Easy to understand timelines and love the videos, too
I just ordered one copy for my school library and I laminated the posters to display on the walls. I love the layout of the book and the text is accompanied by plenty of illustrations making it easier to understand for a broader group of reading levels. I'd say our 4th graders through teachers will be our best audience. We are likely to purchase additional copies of this book, along with the Bible one. On Youtube, Matt created videos that cover the timelines, which will be excellent for our Middle School classes! Well done!!!

Brilliant Perspective!
History is always taught from a perspective or with some inherent bias. Being able to see what was happening around the world on a timeline, gives you an independent unbiased perspective. Gain insights - Colonisation, either being colonised or colonising some one else is part of Western civilisation, that's who we are! - While in the East. China mostly stayed at home for the last 2500yrs - Will the Empire strike back? And become a modern day coloniser? Viewing timelines without any interpretation allows the reader, the opportunity to draw their own conclusions. I would say that this book is absolutely essential reading for everyone, not only history scholars!

Not enough details included..
I love concept but things I want to compare in history were not included….. I love idea of book and organization of book… I would like more events on each time line..

Love it!
I love this book. I end up wasting so much time staring at the timeline posters and picking out little parts to dig deeper into. The way it's visualized has really helped me identify where the big holes in my history knowledge are. I showed my copy to my parents and then they stole it. (Ok they just aggressively liked it and I let them keep it) Currently buying a second copy that I will clearly have to defend better.

Amazing value
I love this YouTube channel, so I was more than happy to buy the book and support Matt Baker’s work. Turns out it was very much worth the super-reasonable price! It’s advertised with one wall chart and four fold-outs, but those can easily be pulled out of the book and hung up as well. That means you’re getting a well-written and fairly comprehensive overview of world history given the size of the book, and you’re also getting five high-quality posters. I showed it to my husband and he couldn’t believe how low the price was for the quality and value. Just awesome work.

Nice detailing of events in the timeline and reference charts are good based on different sections. Good source of world history and timelines in a nice visualization. The book quality is good and worth for someone who loves to read with visual representation.

It took a little longer to arrive since I live in another country but when it arrived I knew it was worth the wait and I'm glad I finally managed to grab a copy of this amazing compilation of world history. Waiting for the authors to come up with new books, perhaps a mythology set.
