Big sound in a small package!!
I'm going to preface this by saying, keep in mind this is a TWO-SPEAKER setup with NO subwoofer...I just want to be perfectly clear on that before diving into this review. This was a bit of a vanity purchase, as I wanted some white speakers to go with my new all-white PC setup and didn't want to drop studio monitor money or anything just to look spiffy on the desk. This one seemed like a good middle ground, as most of the cheaper options were USB powered and that was not going to cut it in this area. These have some neat features like bluetooth built in and RGB lights which can have the color changed, do a few different lighting modes, or even be shut off entirely if that's not your thing. There is also a port on the back for a sub-out, meaning you can slave a powered subwoofer to these and get a 2.1 setup if you so desire. I have not tried this yet. I don't want to give a glowing, "Stepford Wives" review on these, because sound quality can be subjective and even changes with the context of what you have been listening to prior. Since I don't have pro sound-testing equipment this is going to be a bit on the unscientific side, but I've heard some great speaker and headphone setups in the past so I think I've at least got some "cultured" ears. Considering the size, these offer a very sizeable amount of volume. Being wall-powered, that didn't come as a surprise. 32w going into drivers these size is going to render a good amount of volume. So if you want something you can hear over the noise of a shower, the sink as you're shaving, or even a vacuum cleaner or whatever, these will cut through just fine. I use these in my bedroom so I like having music or youtube videos going as I get ready in the morning. On that front, these are great! The amount of bass is VERY surprising, but the drivers are pretty heavy for speakers this size and they feel quite solid. It's not a huge surprise that so much is included, but one of the jerry-rigged tests I do for bass is seeing how loud they are *in the other room*, as high-end frequencies get choked out by walls/doors pretty easily and bass usually cuts right through. These cut through the walls pretty well, which tells me the bass on these is pretty strong in the mix. Take it with a grain of salt, but for their size the bass is well there. If that's still not enough, they do have a sub-out so you can hook up a powered sub if you so desire. On the actual sound QUALITY, I'm not going to stretch the truth here...my Logitech and Creative 2.1 sets do outperform these. The ones in the $60-100 range (sometimes less if they were refurbs). But lets put this in context...we're comparing a 2.0 speaker set with a 2.1 set that is tuned to split frequencies between a subwoofer and others. Anyone in music/audio knows that's a pretty sizeable gap to close. Just taking the stress of bass or very low mid reproduction off the smaller speakers is an immense advantage when it comes to clarity. I do have to hand it to these though, considering the task they do a pretty good job. As far as accuracy goes, I couldn't speak to that, but these do come off as muddier than the old Creative 2.1 set and my HyperX Cloud headphones...again, keep in mind we're talking a 2.0 set and many others don't even come close to these. On a side note, the option to use an external subwoofer has not been used by me yet. I am unsure if this does anything for clarity (like if a high-pass filter is kicked in for the speakers, reducing the amount of bass/low mids they have to produce), but will update the review when I get a chance to try. I would be highly impressed if that were the case, I look forward to confirming someday. I gave these 4 stars on sound and bass, and 3 on the volume control since they are just buttons instead of a volume knob like most and that is a little annoying. Sure you can control volume on your computer, but it would be nice for use on things like bluetooth or what have you. I also like the RGB lights, personally, but your mileage may vary. I think I'd have a much easier time suggesting these if they were a LITTLE cheaper ($75 would seem super reasonable), but at about $95 this is a little steep, even for a 2.0 set like this. Studio monitors are built for flat audio response in nearly all cases, which takes more R&A than just making something that sounds good. Not saying it's zero work, just not as much tuning as the flat-response ones have to take on. Still a good pair of speakers that look great as well, worth checking out!

Great speakers. Big sound, small form factor
I picked these up for my wife after a lot of research. I then picked up a second set for my parents after seeing how well they worked for my wife. My wife would not let me buy anything crazy expensive or fancy for her computer, but wanted something better than the Logitech speakers she had been using which were so "boomy" (read: they try to make up for lack of real base by cranking up the crappy higher pitch base that they are able to produce to the expense of all else) that she wasn't enjoying her music and had a hard time understanding people during conference calls. The guidelines she insisted on for her new speakers were the following: Not too expensive (these are borderline for her), no separate subwoofer, compact, and able to comfortably fill the room (small 10x12 home office) with balanced sound from various types of music, conference calls, and videos. These are perfect. The price was a little on the high side for her, but they work so well that the price was more than forgiven. The sound coming out of these is nice and balanced. For a small room, they do provide enough base (you can add a subwoofer if you really want) and the sound is clear with a nice soundstage. The connectivity options are great as well: You can connect to them via 3.5" TRS plug (your normal smallish headphone style plug), USB, or Bluetooth. They have a built in Subwoofer out port if you decide you want to add a sub, but they sound great without it. If you have a larger room and want to crank up the tunes, you might want to consider it, but my wife is happy without it. They are also pretty small and fit nicely on a crowded smallish desk. You can set the lighting to a color you like, and then forget about it. It's fairly low key. It was not a selling point for us, but it is pretty neat. 6 months later, when my parents complained that their Logitech speakers were making it so that they couldn't listen to conference calls or other dialog due to the boominess of their speakers, I picked these up for them as well. Great speakers. Perhaps the best you can find for your desktop/laptop at this price. Highly recommended. Also, if you haven't figured it out yet, I strongly recommend you never purchase any Logitech speaker that comes with a subwoofer, as it's going to sound like crap. If you insist on going with Logitech, better to get a cheap two speaker setup than to get one with a small sub, as they crank up the high frequency base (it can't really generate any real base) output of that crappy sub so high that you'll want to throw it out the window.

Very nice speakers with a few nitpicks
Alright, let me start off by saying that i am NOT an audiophile. Unless something is terribly wrong with speakers/headphones, i'm most likely not going to notice. With that being said, I think that these speakers sound very nice, are really small and lightweight, and are also adorable in pink. There are a few things I would like to mention, however, as they aren't huge irks to me but could be deal breakers to others. Firstly, as with most speakers, they have their own power source. This means they do not get power from your computer via USB or anything else via an aux cord, but rather by being plugged into the wall. This is by no means a bad thing, but because of the RGB lights and the way you turn up and down the volume, it means that if you have to unplug it for any reason it'll reset all of your settings. It's also kind of a bother to actually control things like the volume and the lights. I much prefer when the volume is linked to a knob that turns, but instead you have a switch somewhat akin to a TV remote, where you have to either hold it down or constantly click it to find your desired volume. The RGB is controlled by the same button that switches it between game and music mode, but you hold it down to switch the light mode. This means you have to slowly cycle through each light setting until you get the one you want. This is by no means a big deal in my opinion though, because you'll most likely get the settings you want, leave them and never plug them in again. If you need to change the volume of something for any reason, you'll probably just do it in the system settings or whatever application you're using if it gives you the option. The settings are deleted when they're unplugged, but not when you turn them off, so it isn't a huge deal breaker. The only other thing I'd like to mention is that when turning these off and on, they have a little jingle that plays. Much like with turning a computer on, this is just something that bugs me. I wish I at least had the option to not have it make a sound when i turn them off or on. Overall, these are fantastic speakers for gaming, and I don't think these small nitpicks are any reason to give them any less than a five star review. They come in many colors and are small enough to fit any setup, so if you're in the market for some affordable speakers, get them ASAP!

Very Good Speakers with Some Annoyances
I'll start off by saying I am no audiophile. I just want a pair of small quality speakers. My previous speakers were some Creative Pebble speakers, along with various Logitech models along the way. I don't have the desk space for larger bookshelf speakers and I don't really care for having a subwoofer, at least not yet. I'll start off with the design. The speakers look great, with minimal branding. Even with the LEDs, they don't scream "gamer speakers". The LEDs themselves have a soft diffused light, and can be turned off. You get your usual colors and then a breathing set. I would've liked to have a color cycle option, though. The speakers are pretty heavy for their size (a good thing!) and all my cables were long enough for me. I like that the power button is separated from the volume control, so I never have to find the right spot when powering up the speakers. The volume rocker and nice and meaty, and the EQ/color select button work fine. Powering up and down the speakers, as others have stated, plays an obnoxious noise. Powering them on has an engine vrooooom sound along with your typical scifi pew pew kinda thing. Powering them down just gives a scifi pew pew with no engine sound. OK, whatever. I wish you could disable this. Onto the sound! Again, not an audiophile here. My first attempt with these speakers was using the built in USB soundcard/amp/whatever. I first tried music and everything sounded good enough for me. Clear sound and even quite a bit of bass for 2.0 speakers. They definitely get LOUD. But then I started Borderlands 3. For the life of me I could not get it to sound good with the USB. All three modes did this but movie mode gave the harshest "S" sounds and the highs overall were very ear piercing. When it was loud, it was too loud, and when it was quiet, it was a little too quiet. And the sound felt very hollow, like it was missing the fullness of what speakers should sound like. It sounded like I was listening through a tin can. I have no idea why it was so different than when I was playing music, but it was awful and I was very disappointed. I looked around on Edifier's site to see if there was a USB firmware update but I didn't find anything. I then tried using the 3.5mm aux connection. There's the sound I was looking for! I felt like I was back in the game again with a FULL sound and better bass. I didn't have the ear piercing S sounds anymore. I didn't feel any harshness at loud volume, either. Everything seemed 'right' as it should be. I haven't tried the Bluetooth connection. I assume it's fine for music or TV but I wouldn't use it for gaming due to Bluetooth having a slight delay in general. I didn't really factor this in my review but it's a nice feature to have! Another nice feature I didn't mention is the bass out port for subwoofers. These both add some great value to just a set of 2.0 speakers. With all that said, I don't know if these are $100 speakers. I got them on sale for $75, which seems okay. I spent a lot of time complaining about how bad they sound through USB so it could be something to do with my setup. I don't know. Given that these weren't perfect for me, but still very good, I gave it 4 stars. I got the audio right in the end but the USB mode was disappointing, and the power on/off sounds are super derpy. I'd highly recommend these if you can get them on sale.

Great speakers for the price.
For the price these speakers look and sound great! They are able to get pretty loud, much louder than I would need if they were for a desk setup. I really like how the LED shines from the back giving a cool glowing effect. They function well and are easy to setup and switch between the different modes like Aux in, Bluetooth, USB right from the speakers themselves.

Great Speakers w/ great support team
The speakers are great with the sound you get from them. Although I wish there was more bass sound but its a great choice for a portable sized speaker for your desk. I bought these speakers to match my ALL white set up and I wanted to get decent speakers without spending too much money. These speakers does the job nicely even during gaming sessions. The RGB lights can change colors depending what colors you want. If you don't want the RGB lighting, you can also turn it off. Setting up this speaker is very easy. There is a power adapter for the speakers to connect to and then there is a cord connecting the two speakers. Once it is hooked up, its all very easy to connect to the PC using bluetooth. I personally use the bluetooth option. About two months ago (I had this since over a year ago), I was having issues with my speakers. For some reason my speakers would randomly disconnect. At first, I thought it was my computer or the video I was watching having problems but I soon realized it was most likely the speakers since I did not have the issue previously. Not sure what started it to happen. I contacted support and needed to contact the HK email. I asked them about the issue and they were not sure either. At first they told me it was the video's unique video formatting and incompatibility with the current speaker system so the video files could not be played. However, I told them that I did not have the issues before with the same video link I sent them. They soon apologized and allowed a replacement to be sent to me. They did try to help and try to find the issue. I did unplug the speakers, removed them from my PC's bluetooth system, and reconnect again. Those options did not work. Glad the support team was helping me when all the options were exhausted and allowed a replacement to be done. Still a great speaker to have and worth checking out!

Worth the price
Enjoyed these so much I also bought a pair for my boyfriend’s birthday! He likes to mess around with music, so sound quality is important to him. He seems to like them so that’s a 10/10 in my book :) NOTES: Cords are nice and long, so the bigger than average desk set up should be okay. Sound is significantly more clear/better quality than cheaper speakers. The speakers feel very well made and durable. When plugging the aux input into computer though, make sure the speaker is off so you don’t get a loud feedback noise.

High Quality Near-Field Speakers With an Array of Useful Features
After almost 20 years, my Cambridge Soundworks DTT 2200 5.1 system finally bit the dust, so I was on the prowl for some new desktop speakers to hook up to my PC. I got turned on to Edifier products after setting some bookshelf speakers up for a friend of mine (Their R1700BT), but I didn't want anything quite that big on my desktop. Once I discovered that they had this "gaming" line, I was happy to take a closer look to see how they might fare. My first impression was how substantial they felt in my hands once I got them out of the box; which is what you should expect with a full range unit. Having seen a countless number of "gaming" branded peripherals come in and out of my house over the years, you almost become accustomed to equating the terminology with "cheap and flashy". Not so with these. Setup was very quick and easy. I immediately launched Spotify to get a feel for how the sound might fill up the room. One thing to note here is that if you're not taking advantage of the Subwoofer out, you should position these close to a wall, or in a spot where there will be something behind them for the bass to reflect off of. The difference in range is almost night and day, regardless of the sound profile you might be on. While these are clearly marketed for a "small room" setup, I'll say that at a decent level, they still fill out medium to larger spaces quite nicely. That said, you'll definitely get the most quality out of these as you're positioned directly in front of them, as intended. The overall aesthetics of the speakers should fit nicely alongside any number of desktop configurations. The lighting is a little softer than I'd expected, and I was glad for that. Anything much brighter and I feel like the visual distraction may be off-putting. Either way, the lights can be disabled completely if it's just not something you care to have going on all the time. The feature that probably took me most by surprise was the audio profile selector. The EQ offers a balanced trio of presets: Music, Movie, and Game modes. Game mode features the most bass, but I feel like most games these days already over-saturate their bass profiles, so I tend to stick with one of the other two depending on what I'm playing. Movie mode probably has the widest overall range for movies, YouTube, and general listening, while Music emphasizes more in the higher range, (probably to accentuate vocals). I like having the quick and easy access to the presets, though. I never really considered how substantially different the sound profiles are for all the different types of media I consume on my desktop, but now that I have some control over how those different stages might be presented, I think I'd find it frustrating to have to resort to digging into OS or application menus to achieve the same functionality with other hardware. Bluetooth connectivity was a snap, and the units stayed paired to my phone long after I'd been listening. Even after I had walked through multiple rooms in my apartment and forgotten they were connected. The result here was slight frustration and then hilarity for me, as my wife simultaneously underwent shock and then confusion as I attempted to watch a trailer for the new Mortal Kombat movie while in the restroom. But of course, we're not going to fault Edifier for this. Credit them, maybe. All said, I'm very pleased with the product. It's unfortunate that we have to deal with fewer and fewer things lasting as long as those Cambridge Soundworks speakers did for me; but I'm comforted by the physical and audible quality of these, and optimistic that they'll be going strong for some time to come.
