![Parasite (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71Sw1SmxoEL.jpg)

A zeitgeist-defining sensation that distilled a global reckoning over class inequality into a tour de force of pop-cinema subversion, Bong Joon Ho’s genre-scrambling black-comic thriller confirms his status as one of the world’s foremost filmmakers. Two families in Seoul—one barely scraping by in a dank semibasement in a low-lying neighborhood, the other living in luxury in a modern architectural marvel overlooking the city—find themselves on a collision course that will lay bare the dark contradictions of capitalism with shocking ferocity. A bravura showcase for its director’s meticulously constructed set pieces, bolstered by a brilliant ensemble cast and stunning production design, Parasite cemented the New Korean Cinema as a full-fledged international force when it swept almost every major prize from Cannes to the Academy Awards, where it made history as the first non-English-language film to win the Oscar for best picture. Director-Approved Two-Blu-Ray special edition features. • New 4K digital master, approved by director Bong Joon Ho and director of photography Hong Kyung Pyo, with Dolby Atmos soundtrack • New audio commentary featuring Bong and critic Tony Rayns • Black-and-white version of the film with a new introduction by Bong, and Dolby Atmos soundtrack • New conversation between Bong and critic Darcy Paquet • New interviews with Hong, production designer Lee Ha Jun, and editor Yang Jinmo • New program about the New Korean Cinema movement featuring Bong and filmmaker Park Chan Wook (Oldboy) • Cannes Film Festival press conference from 2019 featuring Bong and members of the cast • Master class featuring Bong from the 2019 Lumière Festival in Lyon, France • Storyboard comparison • Trailers • Plus: An essay by critic Inkoo Kang. Review: A Masterpiece of Social Commentary and Filmmaking Brilliance - As a film lover, I'm always on the lookout for movies that challenge my thinking and leave a lasting impression. And let me tell you, "Parasite" is one of those films. This is a movie that takes a hard look at social inequality and the desperate measures people will take to climb the ladder of success. And with the release of "Parasite" on The Criterion Collection, you can now experience this masterpiece in stunning high-definition quality. First off, let's talk about the transfer. The Blu-ray version of "Parasite" is absolutely gorgeous. The film's cinematography is simply stunning, and the transfer captures every detail beautifully. Whether it's the rich colors of the Kim family's home or the stark contrast of the Park family's mansion, every scene is a feast for the eyes. And with the added bonus of the film's impressive sound design, this Blu-ray is truly the ultimate way to experience "Parasite." But what really sets The Criterion Collection release apart are the special features. The commentary track is a fascinating look into the mind of director Bong Joon-ho, as he provides insights into his creative process and the themes he wanted to explore. And the interviews with the cast and crew give even more depth to the film's characters and story. Plus, the included booklet is a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes information and essays. Of course, all of this would be for naught if the film itself wasn't outstanding - but let me assure you, "Parasite" is a true masterpiece. From the brilliant script to the stellar performances from the entire cast, this is a movie that will stay with you long after the credits roll. And with its thought-provoking commentary on class and society, it's a film that is more relevant today than ever before. Overall, "Parasite" on The Criterion Collection Blu-ray is an absolute must-have for any film lover. With its stunning transfer, insightful special features, and unforgettable story, this is a movie that belongs in everyone's collection. So go ahead and add it to your cart - you won't regret it! Review: Highly recommended - Took me a while to get around to seeing this, but what a great film! The plot is easy enough to follow, yet hard to explain. You find yourself alternately rooting for then disdaining each of the characters. Twisty! All I can say is if you're looking for a thriller that neatly ties everything up at the conclusion, this may not be your cup of tea. It's a thriller with quirks - to me, very reminiscent of the work of Alfred Hitchcock. After seeing this in its original color theatrical release, I had to grab the Criterion version, because they also include a black and white version of the film, which again reminds me of early Hitchcock. Ultra cool! :)

Impressive film
Both suspenseful and very unusual, even for a Korean film

No-brainer
Obviously an absolute masterpiece, but having both color and black and white versions of the film is such a nice touch, as well as the length of the interviews. The packaging is the cherry on top, with the Morse code slip cover and the mirrored cover image inside. Generally these cardboard covers always arrive damaged on the edges, but this one came in perfect conditions

Absolutely incredible Film. Made in South Korea.
I believe this is the actor from old boy not the Hollywood version the original Korean version. regardless she's incredibly charismatic as are both families. the nuances and realities of the class systems in South Korea are the same as they are all over the World. this film certainly points out the fact that regardless of where you live it's all about how much money you have to buffer your life with. and regardless of that fact the termites can still eat your entire home in a matter of seconds. or perhaps another moral of this story could be be careful who you let in your house.....especially when it's someone giving your child on therapy for example. yet another moral gain from this film, if someone is trying in life...don't act like they smell. it's a great film I recommend it to anybody who's a film buff.

Hilarious, Exciting, And Thought-Provoking
This film is absolutely unforgettable, having a very unique story, flawless acting, several hilarious moments, and bringing the discussion of class/financial inequity to the forefront of the mind of the viewer. If you're a non-Korean-speaker but don't mind subtitles, I highly recommend this movie.

One of the best thrillers in recent years
This is the type of Korean film that I think can get more average movie fans interested in foreign film. Bong Joon-ho, along with acting collaborator Kang Song, delivers a finely crafted and emotionally resonant drama/thriller along with some black humor for good measure. Also, you get a strong and very engaging commentary track from the director himself in conversation with an informed film critic. I couldn’t recommend more.
