Excellent Filter
UPDATE 10/13/2012: For those who are really put off by the size and effectiveness of this filter, I found a way to get an absolutely great tasting cup of java. Simply, brew the grounds in the percolator WITHOUT A FILTER, then sit the filter on top of your coffee mug (I have a 12 oz mug I got from here and the filter fits perfectly on it, just barely going down a little into the cup) and pour the brew thru the filter. It collects loose grounds and "sludge", and I read on one website, where it should also filter out the elements that might cause elevated blood pressure....according to a study at the website from (I believe) the University of Pennsylvania. After reading the reviews I did expect a small filter BUT this critter is teenie tiny! There is about an 1/8 inch gap between the filter and the basket in my 12 cup Presto percolator. If you use 3 heaping Tbps of coarse grounds, you can get some really good tasting coffee. Fortunately, I fix coffee only for myself and usually use only 3 (6 ounce) cups at a time. I do not believe you could make more than 5 cups of java at a time. It has its drawbacks (it takes a little extra time to clean in addition to being tiny) but the taste of the coffee (versus using a paper filter) is well worth it. UPDATE 11/17/2011: Normally, i use the coarse grind with my Presto percolator but I tried fine grind using this filter and it was great! I used the regular, paper disc filter also, and noticed a major difference....this filter produced the best taste by far.

It serves its purpose for my farberware percolator.
I have a percolator, which I love! The stainless steel filter inside always gets clogged with coffee grounds. I end up having to soak it in vinegar to unclog the small holes in it. I needed a filter that actually works. This mesh one is perfect. It’s a bit small, for my percolator but it serves the purpose. Please make a 3 1/2 inch one in the future. I will buy it. .it’s great quality.

This Filter Lets Coffee Grounds Through into Coffee!
I purchased the Farberware SS Yosemite 8-cup stove top coffeemaker, and with it, the suggested Perma-brew filter. (I don't like paper filters.) I made coffee just as I have always done with a perc brewer, and the filter lets grounds into the coffee. The advertisement says: "Micro-fine filter openings retain coffee sediments." Not true. That is deceptive since one assumes that any grind coffee will not have sediment in the coffee. I use a decaf coffee and the whole beans are no longer sold, so I have to use the usual bag of decaf...which is a fine grind. I expected the filter to actually keep the grinds from getting into the coffee. I was wrong. I don't want to go to a grocery store and use their machines for a coarser grind; it is a time-consuming project that I've found allows for other coffees, such as flavored blends, to affect the taste of what I grind. I can't use this filter if I don't want coffee grinds in my morning and afternoon "coffee breaks." I do not suggest that anyone buy it unless using coarse ground coffee. A waste of a purchase, and now I am faced with returning everything or using a paper filter. The coffee pot is just fine, but I wonder why the "new" FW SS Yosemite pot listed since I purchased mine only a matter of days ago, is better! The only difference seems to be that it's "new" with no explanation of why...and the rise in price. As of today, there are no reviews of it. I don't know why decaf whole beans are impossible to find in grocery stores and Walmart, but something is wrong. Decaf drinkers are left to use fine grind beans, and I'd rather grind my own from beans. There is plenty of proof that whole beans are tastier and fresher. Perhaps there are brands of decaf that I don't like that are still in whole beans, but I haven't seen any in my area. In any case, do not buy this perma-brew filter if you expect plain coffee without any sediment!

Works Great But a Bit Small
I recently bought this re-usable coffee filter because of the rising cost of paper disk coffee filters. I have a Presto 12-cup percolator coffee maker, and this re-usable filter fit inside the metal basket just fine. It made a great cup of coffee and there was minimal if any coffee grounds in the bottom of the pot! My only problem with this product is that it is SMALL. I can easily make up to 6 cups of coffee in my percolator using this filter, but it will definitely not hold enough ground coffee to make 12 cups. I do plan to keep this product since I usually make 4-6 cups of coffee at a time, but please note the small size.

Not a good fit for 10-12 cup percolators
As other reviewers have noted, this filter does not have sufficient capacity for many 10-12 cup percolators. It would be nice if they offered more than one size. Also, I find that I have had to increase the amount of coffee I use in my percolator (an old Corningware 10-cup model)to get the right strength--I think it's because the filter is so small in diameter that some of the water misses the basket entirely during the perking process (Pouring a half a cup of the just-perked coffee back through the grounds creates a stronger brew, but who wants to do that every time?). People with other makes of percolators may not experience this problem. If I could control the length of the perking cycle this problem might be resolved, but I can't. With coffee so expensive, it's aggravating to have to use more! I used to have a wonderful old percolator (I think it was a Presto)that had both a fine in-spout strainer and an adjustable strength setting. It kept the grounds out of my coffee and I could control the length of the perking cycle. I wish they still made it, because it made perfect coffee with any grind.

I find it works fine for me in my electric percolator. It is small and other reviews say it’s too small, this would be true if you like very strong coffee or espresso.

Amazon suggested to purchase this perma filter when I was buying the Coletti Bozeman 12 cup stainless percolator, my wife said “great! No more chewing the last cup” 🤣 Well, it does not fit, it’s to small in diameter and to tall for the lid to close. Full return in the works. Not a good suggestion Amazon! Only reason for low stars, is I can’t rate what I’ve not used, Amazon is the one who screwed up here, not the seller.

Lo compre por que decía que servía para la cafetera pero no es así, se derrama el café por lo pequeño que esta.

Nice fine mesh filter but small. For a 12 cup percolator it will hold coffee for a maximum of 10 cups if you don't like strong coffee. The filter itself is decent and the filter material is very fine so it works well. Wish it was full size though.

I use a perk always and had been using cut out napkin paper to filter inside the perk basket. This filter fits into the basket now and is a great pleasure to use. Not only does it work effectively, it allows for efficient use of the coffee. The straining value allows the hot water to really get at the coffee grounds and adds I would speculate some 25% more coffee for the perk. Easy to clean, easy to dispose of old grounds, easy to add to and re-perk, wonderful. Hope it lasts for years as advertised. Great price for a great product. Thanks Larry Perry
