Camco 57533 Olympian GM12 RV Multi Sparker

I've bought two of these now. The first was 4-5 years ago and the second was about six months ago, when it occurred to me that the old one might break. That hasn't happened yet but now I have one in reserve. I use it on my stove as well as my outside grill. Both units are equipped with electronic ignition and neither works. Both have been fixed a couple of times and both stopped working after about a month. Aside from butane lighters and matches I've tried flint lighters, used commonly with Bunsen burners, which work but tend to be finicky. (When I turn on the gas outside or inside, I want it to ignite fast - I don't want gas accumulating while I'm trying to get my lighter to work.) I put the nozzle of the Lamco near where the gas will come out, pull and hold the trigger (and can hear the igniter working), and then turn on the gas, which ignites immediately (no whoosh or singed eyebrows!). The length and slight bend in the barrel allow me to position the muzzle right next to the ports on my indoor stove as well as the outdoor grill. This device works better than any other I've tried and in fact I no longer feel any need to try to have my stove fixed - I just use this, and it works. And now I have a backup that it looks like I'll never need.

This little baby is the BOMB. We absolutely love it! It is not for lighting candles - it doesn't produce a flame. It produces an electric arch. We use it to light our gas fireplace logs and it's perfect for that. The reach is long enough not to have to move the grate, nice. It lights every time. It's easy to pull the trigger with one finger, unlike those butane lighters. You don't have to worry about the butane flame going out in the middle of lighting. It never runs out of butane. When the batteries run low, you just pop in some new ones. If you have gas fireplaces, you're going to want to have this baby nearby. It is a great invention.

We have oven-range burners on our cook stove and when the electric start went out for a second time we started using lighters. I didn't like keeping lighters next to an oven, so when I stumbled upon this I had to try it. It works much better than I expected. It is battery operated (9v) so when you pull the trigger it rapid-fires tiny electric sparks inside the tip. As long as you hold the button it continues to rapid fire (I would guess 15-20 sparks per second). I absolutely love this thing and will purchase another in a heartbeat. That said, there are two things that I would like to make you aware of (but these would not stop me from purchasing): 1) This thing is much larger than the picture leads you to believe, so check the dimensions. It's not too big--it fits nicely in my hand and was designed for use with outdoor grills so the size is really perfect. 2) At one point mine stopped sparking and I thought the battery had died, but when I checked the battery it was 100% charged (this thing has great battery life). I suspect must have been due to carbon build-up in the sparker because all I had to do was blow in the lip and it started working again.For me, this thing had the most "fun" value I have seen in a gadget in a long time.

I had no idea this type of "gadget" existed. I have been using Zyliss clickers to start my gas stove. The Zyliss is no longer made, probably because it works beautifully in the beginning and then stops working. It was an attractive and sleek piece of equipment, small, easy to use, and indispensable to anyone with the pilot lights turned off. All of the new "clickers" have such tight child controls on them that I could not use them. I bought one, quite expensive, from Sur La Table and had to return it. The clerk nodded in agreement.But after all the research I did online I found this amazing tool. Why did I not see this earlier? I read all the reviews and realized that I did not need a flame to start my burners. This sparker was what I needed. Done deal!I have been using it for several months now and love it. It works easily and almost every time. When it doesn't spark you must turn off the gas for a few seconds and then begin anew or you will have a blast of flame in front of you. The other slight disadvantage is the design. It is large. If your pilot lights are turned off then you will keep this on your counter because you need it each time you turn on a burner. But it is large. But, again, it is such a relief to have this sparker that with one or two (sometimes three or four) clicks, it lights the burner. Because it works so well I don't mind the size and have been able to tuck it to the side.Keep in mind that this is only for sparking a pilot light or gas burner. It will not light a candle. There is no flame. Just a spark.

I ordered this item even though I thought it was a little pricey. When I received it, I put the batteries in and tried to use it right away. It was not operational. I went through the return process and ordered another one. Tis one worked for about 15 seconds, then stopped working altogether. I did not opt to try it a third time.

Absolutely works fantastic. We bought another one to light our gas stove and gas Oven, the other one did not work at all, this one works flawlessly so far, especially easy to light our Oven with this one.We liked it so much, we bought 2 more, one for our Friend who also has a Resturaunt grade gas oven which we disable the pilots on because we are using them in a house, not a Resturaunt.Hope they hold up well because they work awesome.

Very good product a little expensive but good quality and works a treat.

Item did not work properly. Barely made a spark, even after replacing the battery it seemed to lack power. Very disappointed, returning for refund.
