All the Prayers of the Bible
P**5
Revealing what the Bible says about Prayer and its Role in Human Life and History.
'All the Prayers' not only shows the range of people who prayed in a variety of locations, over thousands of years, it also highlights the diversity of prayers, explains their context, and offers biblical insights and applications for the reader. The useful (and interesting in themselves) opening pages of the book comprise both contents and index. Listed in the order of the Christian Bible, each prayer and its purpose is categorised with the appropriate Bible reference. I do agree, however, with one reviewer who suggested that it would be useful, where possible, if the prayers were also listed topicallyEven within books such as '1 Timothy', where there are 'a few pertinent references to prayer' (p257), or 'Esther' which appears not only to be prayerless, but also supposedly containins no reference to the name of God, (although some argue for the appearance of the name in acrostic form in the narrative,) the writer describes how prayer is implied.(p95) From every book of the Bible, reference is made to both implied and specific prayer. All specific prayers of the Bible are quoted and their purpose and function discussed.Whether read with the Bible or alone, 'All the Prayers' is a wonderful devotional and source of reference. Recommended.

I would like to have a kindle edition so that I can ...
An absolute gem of a book . It is very handy for me as an intercessor . I would like to have a kindle edition so that I can read it on my iPad instead of always having to carry it and it's worn out as result of frequent usage. So kindly consider publishing a kindle edition.

Great collection of all prayers in Bible. Very instructive in what to pray for.

not quite what i expected
covers a lot but certainly not "all the prayers of the Bible" and wide coverage makes it thin on detail.

The Bible is good. Prayers are great. Biblical prayers are best.
We like praying in accordance with our understanding of the Bible and God's will.

Excellent, succinct and well written for devotional
The author takes you through the entire Bible noting every location where there is conversation between man and God. Then, he briefly adds an explanation of the application from that discussion. My first impression of the title I thought there would only be a handful of prayers thinking it would be Psalms and those found in the Epistles. However, using his approach has made this into a wonderful devotional study throughout the Bible. I highly recommend to any who wants to find places in Scripture where there is conversation taking place between man and God as a means of knowing how to talk to your heavenly Father.

This is not a “set of prayers” or a “How to” book but is a very worthy read.
I loved this book! Herbert’s discussion on prayer begins in Genesis and ends in Revelation and he has organized the content in exactly that order. I have found several things to be of particular interest to me: a. Each and every prayer presented has a different style/approach to prayer; b. I am enthralled with how the prayers in the Bible seem to develop over time, and how God uses men and women in the Bible to illustrate the many ways we can communicate with Him; c. Highlighting prayers in this manner caused me to recognize that different Biblical personalities often had their own style and way to communicate with their Lord; and d. The prayers are prayers from individuals who come from all walks of life and who come from a wide array of backgrounds. I have been using this book as a devotional. Each prayer presented includes the scripture it is taken from and a brief but well thought out discussion. In these discussions there are many additional verses that you can read to enhance your reading/learning experience if you so choose. I feel it has really enriched my prayer life because it has caused me to think about prayer differently and it has challenged me to become more focused on not only prayer, but in learning even more how to listen in prayer so that prayer is a two way communication.

Outstanding book.
Some years ago (about 20 or so) I used this book in youth ministry and found it to be a real insightful book on the importance of prayer and keeping watch for how God chooses to answer them. Just recently in our Men's Bible study the subject of prayer came up and I had mentioned this book, and re-read at least a good part of it. I had forgotten just how much it had an impact on me, and it certainly helped revitalize my prayer life.In my opinion, this book is a must-read for the saint who desires to sharpen their discipline of prayer.

Not what I was looking for
I wanted a book to help me as I run a prayer ministry. This is not for that. It is more like a textbook. Perhaps it would be a great resource for someone in BIble School or Seminary. The layout is chronilogical with the books of the Bible. I would have preferred more of a topical layout. That is just my personal opinion.
