Does this connect with tesla model y 2020 build? your website says it does but this ad only says model 3, and a customer claimed it didnt work with y.

Yes, this works perfectly with my model Y. I am using this with OBDLink LX OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner for Android and Windows from Amazon. The plug is inserted behind a panel between the back of the two front seats. CAUTION: The model Y must be sleeping before you unplug and insert the pigtail. I did this from inside the model Y in the back seat. Open the front door with your key of choice present. Close the front door. Get into the back seat and close the door. Reach forward and on the touch screen power off in the Security menu. Don't touch anything else such as front seats. Wait 10 minutes. Use a timer. Sometime after 8 minutes you will hear a loud bang. You can't miss it. If you're not sure it didn't happen yet. You will be sure when it does. Once you know the car is sleeping, proceed to remove the panel and unplug and insert the pigtail. At this point you can plug in the OBDII dongle. I am using the Scan My Tesla app.

Can you tuck in everything within the cover, or does the obd ii port has to stick out since it might not fit?

You leave the tail sticking out of the trim with the adapter on. Easier access if you need to re-pair the device. You can tuck this along side the drivers seat.

What changed with the 2022 model to make this not compatible?

Installed and works in a 2022 Model Y, just fold the adapter over itself to make it change input from output by 90 degrees and it will fit below the center rear cover. Don’t forget to power down the vehicle battery first using the console and wait 2-8min with driver window down.

Will this enable and work with the new ring car cam (dashcam) which requires an odb-ii port to function?

Yes. Owners of the Model 3, X, S, and Y that have Sentry Mode enabled will be able to install a device connecting Ring functions to their vehicles’ existing cameras.

Great, does it’s job and now ScanMyTesla works!

Knocked off one star because the OBD2 dongle part is about 3” too short to comfortably go into the glovebox. It fits, but it is very taut and I’ll be getting a small extension to make up for this “shortcoming” 🥲😉

Pinout incorrect

None of my OBD 2 adapters will work because the ground is on the wrong pin. According to the spec, Pins 4 and 5 are chassis ground. They only bothered to ground one of them. Also the location that they connect only connects to one CAN bus. There are 3 with relevant data on one harness in a different location. Also the harness that they tap into is very critical for proper car operation as it jumpers the SEC controller. The one that authorizes the car to start. Poor implementation.

Doesn't really fit.

The part doesn't integrate with the Tesla's interiot at ALL. It sticked oput from being the console's trim panel and the panel can't be fully reinstalled.This is OK if you want to use it temporarily for diagnostic work, but not for long-term installation.

Fits 2022 Model Y just fine

Works and fits 2022 Model Y!!!!2022 Model Y has more metal than 2021 behind the center dash back, so the orbital wire cannot easily be shoveled into the console base.If you fold the wires in this adapter over to make it change 90 degrees from input to output, aiming downward for the output, then it can completely fit under the the OEM cover, with the OBD port and wire coming out from the bottom and tucked between the seat and center divider. (Sorry forgot to take a photo)
