Unparalleled level of interaction even at high player counts
This game took me by surprise. I've been playing modern board games for more than a decade and hadn't heard of this, though it's been around for a long time. The game is exceptional: it plays well with anything from 4-9 players, which each player having a different role which provides slightly different capabilities and mechanics of play. There is unparalleled player interaction: there are no turns, everyone plays at the same time at all times, and the main mechanic is trading, so there is non-stop engagement between the players. I am not aware of any other game that has so much interaction while pursuing individual goals. While it has a theme, it's essentially an abstract strategy game, and after several plays I can't say and don't care what each of the color cubes is supposed to represent. One of my kids does care very much about the alien back-stories, and holds grudges against other players on that basis, but this just adds some color and gives her a bit more leverage in some of her trades. The game is moderately complex and can seem overwhelming at first, but if you don't mind learning games like Agricola (which is the most similar game in our collection) and are interested in high-interaction game play, this is definitely a winner.Much analysis is available online about how each role should be played in combination with the other roles. We're not a super sophisticated game group, just enjoying playing and learning. Each role's capabilities are meaningful and definitely encourage play that is specific to that role, so there's lots of variety and I expect to be able to play many times before losing interest.

Outstanding!
Sidereal Confluence may just be the best negotiation game AND engine builder out there! If you love making deals, screwing over friends, lying cheating...and love turning one type/color of cubes into other types/colors cubes into victory points, then this is a must own game!In this game, players represent alien races, each with it's own special powers, unique player deck and pathway to victory, trying to become the most powerful economic force in the galaxy. Everything is done through trading and deal making. And what are the players trading? Cubes. Yeah....cubes. Sounds like every other boring euro, but in this game cube trading is anything but boring. As just about anything goes. You can trade anything except for victory points, and that includes your own unique action cards.Once players are done trading, the cubes they've attained are then 'converted' into other cubes, currencies or out right victory points. This is done through 'converters', which are essentially action cards with various conversion methods printed on them. Each one of these cards is a mini-engine for different combos of resource cubes. Some only work with one type of cube, others require sets of different cubes and so forth; and there are HUNDREDS of these converter cards that can make for almost infinite possibilities.. Some races have unique converter cards that only they possess!Sidereal Confluence even adds in technologies that you can research that make your converters even more efficient and useful! The down side is that once you research a technology, every other player gets access to it making their converters more efficient also, thus making the whole endeavor a double edged sword! Also, as stated earlier, the game has nine (9) unique races and they all play very different from each other, making replayability extremely high.About the only downside to the game is that Sidereal Confluence works best at higher player counts. The game game can play UP TO NINE (9)! However, it seems that four (4) is the bare the minimum and six(6) being best!

Great economic trading game
This is a great economic trading game. It is the best resource market / generator game i've seen. There are multiple races, each with slightly different engines to turn certain colored cubes into more other colored cubes. Generally a race won't generate the cubes it needs, which forces the races to trade. This leads to a great resource market driven by surpluses and shortages where careful planning and trading is necessary to build your engines correctly and ensure they are fully fueled.Admittedly there isn't a ton of theme to the game, but there is tremendous interactivity and the races are sufficiently different to create an outstanding multiplayer experience.
