Very good, may be much better if some important improvements can be added-Revised Feb 07, 2025
Below is a revision of what I wrote when reviewing the Neumi Atom 4K player. Today, I would like to revise "The Bad:" (see below...)After reaching out to tech support of Neumi, I was advised that one should wait a few minutes before removing the USB hard drives after turning the Neumi off, which I do now. This turn out to be true, and this may help. However, I have tried again, and still feel nervous because although the Neumi is off, the USB drives still flash, or if not flashing the LED is still on.To be fair to Neumi, I think the Neumi Atom 4K player is safe for the USB hard drives. Mine are all 2TB, and this may not applicable to larger size drives. Still, be warned, if you experience hard drive problems with a Mac computer after playing them with the Neumi, the drive can be "rescanned" by a Windows computer and it will be fine. The BAD: The 2 Neumi I bought do not eject the external hard drives connected to the USB connector correctly when they are turned off after playing, The drives are OK with the Neumi, but unreadable on Mac or PC computers when removed from the Neumi. PC can "fix" ths problem, but it needs to be fixed. This problem is important to be corrected because it is the same as just unplugging the drives without first ejecting them. When turning off the Neumi, I saw only one time that it has a "Turn Off" option. Many other times, it just turn off, and the hard drives go bad. I am lucky this can be "fixed." This is dangerous.I decided to keep both and hopefully will figuring out how to properly eject the drives before moving them to other computers. I gave this 4 stars. It is a very cheap player that can play 4K movies very well, just what I need.

Another photo viewer fails to make the grade
There are two very noticeable problems with this unit. The first is that there is no IR extension. If one is inclined to keep units out of sight, as I am, the remote won't work. Even when it is in sight, the IR comes across as very weak, and won't work from the other side of the room I am testing it on.The other problem is getting the photo to fill the screen. They have a 'stretch' option, but have implemented it poorly. The image looks bad. The better approach to doing this kind of operation is to have a non-linear stretch. The edges are stretched more than the center. This may also be done in conjunction with a slight trimming of the photo. It is not hard to do. My other failed unit appears to do this aspect well enough (but fails in other regards).Other issues are the primitive nature of photo selection. The one thing that does work is that the slideshow actually runs and keeps running (sad that we even have to state that as one of its positives, but the other unit didn't)My quest to find any photo viewer that does a halfway decent job of a very obvious and technically simple task continues. I am not optimistic.

Does what it says, works without any trouble at all.
I was a little doubtful about this product because of some of the negative reviews, but decided to try it out anyway. I needed something like this because although my Samsung TV is supposed to be able to play MP4 files off a USB stick, it doesn't work too well, and sometimes just trashes (erases & reformats) the drive. And I desperately wanted to play some very precious old home movies stored as MP4, so this product looked like a viable option.I was expecting more difficulty than I had, tbh. I unpacked the item, read the instructions about updating the firmware, and followed them (after connecting to power & TV, obviously). Firmware update went without a hitch (make sure you're downloading the right firmware!!). Then I plugged in a small USB stick with some test videos, and read the manual about the controls (for example, pause/resume using the OK button). Zero problems so far, and I hadn't spent that much time on the whole thing. After that I was ready to roll. I was able to walk through my folder hierarchy, scroll through the file list, and play what I wanted. I set up the auto-resume in the settings (I think it's the default), and adjusted the screen zoom to make sure the entire picture was in the frame. That was it.So based on my experience, I have no trouble recommending this product. Read the manuals carefully (they are pretty clear, despite the reviews that claim they're not), and follow the instructions exactly (they're not complicated). Enjoy your success. If for some reason you have trouble, even after doing everything by the book, it's possible you got a bad one -- it happens. I would suggest first trying out a replacement (since Amazon makes that super-easy) before concluding the product is bad.
