Let me start off by saying I don't know a lot about paint. I do, however, think this is a great set. I've mostly used cheap acrylics in the past and some random watercolours. With this set it can practically be used as either, which is really cool!What I like:•The case actually keeps the paints from drying. I waited several weeks after receiving the set to be sure of this. If you're ever worried you could add a clean drop of water on top of each paint pot before storing for several weeks (maybe even months)•If you're using them as watercolours 1. It will take a LONG time to get through all this paint and 2. The paints can be reconstituted off of your pallet with water if they dry out. (In my picture you can see my pallet, I've just been re-wetting the paints to continue on with my little tart painting for the last couple weeks) Some colours need to sit with the water for a second to soften, but for the most part it's very quick and easy especially if it's a thin layer of paint.I'm very happy and impressed. The included brushes are pretty nice too, and I love that they match the paint box. Overall it's very cute/aesthetically pleasing AND nice to use. I would recommend it to beginners for sure. I can't say for pros though because I don't know a lot about paint.

A great addition to all crafters.

After receiving this gouache kit, I decided to test the viscosity and color intensity by doing this quick Monet study. The colors are rich, the paint is very thick, and mixes well. The consistency felt like whipped cream cheese, which is a bit different from higher-end paint companies. I do believe those who are looking for a great deal and a variety colors, should invest in this to dip their toes into gouache.Side note, the wells of gouache do stabilize the container making the entire unit sturdy, but you may have difficulty adhering and snapping the lid shut due to the overall flexible plastic material of both, casing and lid. Perhaps in a future iteration, HIMI will release a casing that 1) has a neutral / 50% gray option, including the mixing tray, and 2) is made of a harder and firmer plastic. The lid is fine the way it is.

So many colors and each cup comes with a lot of paint! Recommend spraying paint with water before and after each use to keep them from drying out. Dries very matte and paint is very opaque!

Liked the colors, coverage, and amount of paint.

I like the color selection, and the slot in the box is good for brushes when you’re traveling. I appreciate the two whites. I don’t like that the consistency of this paint is a bit harder to control than traditional gouache, and the finish is not as matte as some other brands. Also, they are quite difficult to reactivate when they dry on a palette. Overall, though, I enjoy these for sketchbook practice and making posters for my classroom.I wouldn’t recommend these for people new to gouache, since the consistency makes them more difficult to control than other paints. Starting off with a small set of arteza (cheaper and better quality gouache) Will give you a better feel for what gouache really is.

The set is much bigger than I thought it would be, about the same size as my iPad Air 3

Product itself is fine.But when I received the product, the vinyl wrapping around it was torn open and all of the paints had fallen out all over the place. The orange paint had started to leak as well. I needed to use the blues that day, so I wound up using it without returning, but definitely would have returned it if I had the time.
