Are these American made?

Can all-clad pots go in the oven?

They most definitely can go in the oven. They are true commercial cookware.

i have trouble with everything sticking to the bottom. i have tried different oils with same result. what am i doing wrong?????

First of all, the problem of food sticking to the pan or pot is universal, not just with non-non-stick All-Clad. The surface you are cooking on is stainless steel, I presume. All-Clad's stainless is very high quality, but not essentially any different than any other stainless steel cooking surface. The problem lies elsewhere. With quality, heavy gauge stainless steel cooking surfaces, culinary-grade aluminum alloy, and tin or stainless steel lined solid copper cookware surfaces, use no more than medium heat unless you are boiling liquids. You can use more heat with porcelain enameled cast iron, or even fierce heat with carbon steel, or with plain, bare cast iron cooking utensils that also can be seasoned to make them non-stick. A heavy gauge pot or pan distributes heat evenly without hot spots...you do not need really high heat to properly cook in them. Adjust your heat in small increments then note the results. Soon you will be a cooking heat expert. High heat scorches food and adheres it to the bottom of any cookware, All-Clad included. Otherwise, use All-Clad non-stick pans for your frying and saute pans (Non-stick pans cannot brown food very well, and anything more than lowish medium heat evaporates the oils in the plastic coating over time and that reduces its non-stick qualities; plastic can even melt if the heat is too high, so I reserve my non-stick for lower heat cooking involving eggs, fish, potatoes, onions, mushrooms and other delicate foods, and those foods that readily stick to the pan or pot).It is all about "Mastering Heat," referring to a chef-written book of that title. Learn to be subtle in your use of heat...never, never use high heat when using your All-Clad. Look carefully at the results of your heat setting on the food as you cook. Master that heat. Also, high, scorching heat can warp the bottom on any cookware. Beware of this as well.Another comment here made the correct observation that a pot or pan should be be pre-heated (on a LOWER setting). After pre-heating the pot or pan on LOW, add the oil or butter, then turn up the heat to bring the oil or butter, or both, up to the the cooking temperature required in your recipe, or your experience, then add the food after the foaming butter subsides. Water flicked on the pan will sizzle, signaling that it is time to add the food. This is especially important when you saute, which is done at higher heat (just a touch higher heat than a stove's medium setting when using All-Clad).SUMMARY 1. WARM the surface of the cooking vessel on low heat prior to adding your oil/butter. When the pan or pot is WARM, then add the oil or butter. 2. TURN UP THE HEAT to heat your oil/butter to the temperature required by your recipe/personal experience, higher when sauteing, prior to adding the food to a cooking vessel's surface (the food should audibly sizzle when food is added to the cooking vessel when sauteing).
