Absolutely not waterproof. If you’re looking for a true hiking boot, I don’t recommend. Fine as long as you do not encounter water, which is next to impossible if you actually plan on hiking in them. Water barely came up over the toe, and soaked through. Wish I could send back

Let me start by saying that I’m a grown man who wears a children’s size 4 due to being born with (Spina-Bifida). So my feet are small, chunky and wide. I go through shoes like nobody’s business. My shoes must be durable. These are the first Merrells I’ve ever owned and they won’t be the last. They are definitely durable and have a great fit. They do seem to run narrow though. These shoes are very well built and I’m confident that they’ll last a long time. I haven’t tested it yet but I am not confident that these will be waterproof. I say this because 50% of the top of the shoe is mesh. The tread on the sole of the shoes is is excellent. Your kid won’t be slipping in these. Last but not least, these shoes are a great value. You won’t find the quality and durability in any other shoe at this price for sure. Happy Trails!

I bought each of my granddaughters for $50 per pair. Both pairs of shoes have obviously been worn and are dirty inside and out. No where did the order suggest these shoes were used. I’m frustrated and angry because I would never buy used shoes for my grandkids especially paying $50. Since I bought these for a hiking occasion I will try to wash them a few times and hope for the best. For now I am done buying from Amazon at least articles of clothing and footwear. Make sure they are new before you buy or have time to return them.

These are NOT waterproof! Not even water-resistant!! I am so SO disappointed. Amazon, please update the product description before other little boys are miserable on an island with soaking wet feet.

Not waterproof!!! It poured today and my son's feet were soaked through and through. Big disappointment, the whole purpose of these shoes were to protect him in the rain.

Bought a year ago, worn a ton, still in great, waterproof condition!My daughter got these for a fall Girl Scout camp a year ago. She wore them for that, through all the Midwest rain & snow let winter, on the many rainy days in the spring, and to many weeks of nature camp over the summer.To summarize, I bought these a year ago. They were worn immediately and frequently outdoors by a 10-year-old who is active and very hard on her shoes. They’re still in such great shape that she could still wear them until she outgrows them. I wish I could afford the adult version for her now.Bought the blue/gray.

Although these are definitely not waterproof, they do dry very quickly. They are lightweight & comfortable. I am a womens size 7 & ordered these as inexpensive hiking boots. The toe area is really wide, so they look kind of clunky on, but I like the extra room.

I bought these shoes for my 6yo son and he loves them! We have taken these boots out hiking in rough terrain and they do actually grip very well. The tread and overall quality of the shoes is what I'd expect from Merrell.My son loves playing in creeks which usually results in wet shoes. These shoes DO get soaked if submerged enough but they dry fairly quickly in front of a fan.In the late evening, the bright orange accents show up really well which is an added bonus for visibility.My son never complains about comfort in these shoes so I can say they are very comfy for long walks/hikes. These are actually the shoes he wears everyday!

When I ordered the shoe it said it was for girls when the shoe arrived it was for a boy and too wide for a girls size three. I dont have time to send back and get another pair so we are stuck with shoes too big.

I really like these boots. It's waterproof and has a very good grip. Very good quality boots. Highly recommend. I used to buy a different brand but I'm gonna stick with Merrel hiking shoes from now on.

Nice shoe. At first it seemed very durable, however, the black on the bottom started peeling off one of the shoes. I might try and glue it on as it doesn’t look like it will impact the function at all. Hoping they last!

One shoe arrived 2 sizes too small, i had to pay $17 from my own packet to return them to the seller.A few days later the refund for the boots cost has been issued but my return expense has not been covered.
