A beautifully written story
The Last of the Moon Girls is the third book I’ve read by Barbara Davis, and with each one, I become more captivated by her storytelling. This novel is a beautifully woven tale of mystery, self-discovery, and family legacy, written with the kind of lyrical prose that makes you want to savor every word.Davis has an incredible gift for creating rich, emotional narratives that pull you in completely. Her characters feel real, their struggles and triumphs resonating deeply. I loved following Lizzy’s journey as she unraveled the secrets of her family’s past while rediscovering her own strength and purpose. The blend of magic, intrigue, and heartfelt moments made this book impossible to put down.Barbara Davis has truly become one of my favorite authors. If you love books that combine deep emotion, enchanting storytelling, and a touch of magic, The Last of the Moon Girls is an absolute must-read.

Very Enjoyable!!!
This is a great, engaging story! I really enjoyed the character development (even if the self realization dragged a bit) and the anticipation of solving a mystery, while laced with herbal, earthy magic!, and let’s not forget the romance woven into the story as well. Beautifully told from multiple perspectives.

Wonderful storytelling
I fell in love with each character and their story. A sprinkle of magic you could feel but still so very realistic. A fantastic read!

Wonderful story! Captivating and heart-warming, while working through a long-time mystery.
This is the third book by Barbara Davis that I have read, and I have absolutely LOVED each one of them. While very different from each other, the books are so well written, holding the reader's attention from the first all the way to the end, making it hard to put it down for very long. The Keep of Happy Endings and The Echo of Old Books were the first two of her books that I read (and just recently, by the way). Each of these three books are captivating and mesmerizing, beautifully written, with the ability to remain with the reader long after finishing the reading. Barbara Davis is an outstanding author!

(3.5 stars) - Estranged magic!
The not-so-subtle name of Salem Creek is where Moon Girl Farm is located. They don't torture witches to death there as was done in the town of Salem in Colonial times, but they do torture them with gossip, innuendo, and shunningLizzy left Moon Girl Farm nearly a decade ago to create a normal life in New York City, but upon learning of her grandmother's death, begins to consider that she may have only succeeded in losing herself in her efforts.Still, she determines to sell the farm and put it all behind her once and for all. But it needs a lot of work, and she doesn't have the money to hire professional help. After reading her grandmother's journal, she decides to investigate the mystery of the girls who died for herself. But there's a good possibility that the real murderer is going to want to prevent her from finding the truth and clearing her grandmother's name.At least her childhood friend and neighbor Andrew is still there and willing to help her out.The story has a moody, modern gothic atmosphere that's loaded with suspense, intrigue, excitement & romance. The earth magic angle is interesting, but it felt a little overly preachy at times, & in a way that wasn't always consistent. The characters are somewhat stereotyped but sympathetic. It succeeded in keeping me immersed, for the most part, thru a prosaic resolution to a satisfying conclusion, however, so I still enjoyed it.*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, the main characters have sex, with some discreet description but there's no graphic detail*Language: about a dozen uses each of d-mn & h-ll*Religion: "white" witchcraft; about a dozen uses of God's Name in vain, sadly and unnecessarily, including twice as curses

Unexpected
This is the first ebook my spinner wheel for July picked for me to read and it was a good choice. I like witchy tales but this one was different. Part literary fiction and part mystery, it was very well written and hit the right spot. If you like your stories with a lot less spice and a lot of tenderness, this might be for you.

THIS IS THE BOOK YOU'LL REMEMBER!
70 years spent as a voracious reader and always looking for this book. The characters came directly from my own life, so beautifully penned. If I had to take a phase that coined the joy this book gave me it had to be "Peter, Paul and Mary"Loved the story. Loved the characters. ....a great book always ends with a tear or two.
