The "RF IDeas PCPROX Plus 82 Series USB Reader RDR-80582AKU" is an excellent piece of hardware. The setup is simple and straightforward. This card reader provides excellent security from a well-crafted product. Furthermore, the swipe of your proximity card as a second-part authentication method cannot be any easier for the user. In addition, the size of the device is perfect--not too small and not too large. I have used other similar products that are too small, making it difficult for the user to utilize his or her proximity card. You cannot go wrong with this purchase.

Product description is a little misleading. It does not state that there is no keyboard emulation output from this device and can not be used as an RFID card reader in a normal user environment. After I tried to configure this unit without getting an output after a successful read I contacted the manufacturer, their response was "The issue here is that the 82 series readers are development readers, and they are not supposed to output anything."

This version does NOT have keystroke.

Good readers, very well made. This particular model does NOT do keyboard emulation despite the description. You need a different model for that function. This only transmits via the SDK. If that's how you're using it though you'll be very happy

For some bizzare reason card reader companies seem to make something that could be configurable very difficult to use or otherwise inflexible. The baffling array of different SKUs that RF IDeas offers is a perfect example. Instead of building a small handful of readers that can be configured with all the possible options they instead made a million different options with annoying limitations. This particular variant only is "allowed" to work with the SDK, and their own configurator tool refuses to allow it to be configured with a keyboard for some reason.

We've ordered these repeatedly and they've all worked great.

They sent Wave ID Plus instead of the PCProx RFIDeas reader which is pictured.

This was a great addition you the key card system that we use. Customer service was very easy to work with.
