As a wood carving hobbiest I found these knives very useful. I have to sharpen them pretty often but I carve mostly hard wood with them so that is to be expected. Overall they are far better than expected for their price and I am very happy with them.-edit-It has been over two years since I bought these knives and I am still using them for my hobby. While I don’t think they would be the first choice of a hard core wood carver they have more than exceeded my needs as a hobbiest carver. All three blades show wear and tear from my abuse but I still find myself picking them first when I need a blade. They are thin but strong, good reach from the handle but still short enough to not flex when twisted. I like them. Perhaps some day I will carve new handles for them simply for the bragging rights, but I would probably buy a second set to do the work with.

I was surprised at the size of the tools. These are working just fine for carving walking sticks. Can't do too musch detail but they are great for roughing out the pattern.

I bought this for my 8-year old son for Christmas. It is perfect for him! I also got him a whittling book to go along with it and that has helped him get some ideas. The knives in this kit come in a great carrying case and are not unreasonably sharp for a beginner. He has spent hours playing around with them and is getting pretty good. I would highly recommend this for a beginner or someone who is not a professional;).

Saw these at a good price and got sucked it/ Handles very uncomfortable, blades have no sharpness, no able to get them sharp. Very poor quality steel for blades. Spent a bit more money and bought some nice carving knives.

First, I love the case. Very practical and sturdy. However, the knives are poorly made. For wood carving, you want a gradual, wide bevel. But on these knives, the manufacturer added a steeper bevel on the edge of the blade kinda like a steak knife or something, which ruins the whole thing. Some seeeeerious time was needed to grind down that bevel and get the razor-sharp blade you want for wood carving. I had hoped for something ready to use out of the package, not something I needed to work on for hours first.

Very great set of knives at a good price. Steel was extremely sharp on arrival. So sharp they cut through the canvas sheath they came with almost immediately. BE CAREFUL! I carve wood all my life and know enough (after many cuts to hands and fingers) to handle safely, but anyone else, please watch where the knife tips go, razorsharp tips.I look forward to more products from this company.

These look very nice. The one problem I had was the handles on 2 of them were loose. Can be fixed, but shouldn't have to be when new. The second problem was that none of them were sharp. It took a good hour to get them sharp. Again shouldn't have to be done when new. Finally, the knives won't hold an edge very long. I want to like these knives, but the manufacturers should put just a little more effort into them.

Did not like small knife.
