6 Piece Ceramic Soup Bowl Set, Multicolor

I wanted good soup bowls for french onion soup. These work fine but bigger than I would like them to be

I enjoy using these bowls for soup and chilli. They are just the right size for a hardy serving and in the case of onion soup where you have to put them in the oven to melt cheese, these are great! I read previous reviews where ladies complained about a small hole under the handle and if put in the dishwasher it fills with water. I believe that the hole is there due to expansion when the bowl is heated so it needs to be there. I usually just wash the bowls by hand without immersing them into the water. If they need to soak, just put hot water in them and set aside until you wash them. Another suggestion is to put something (duck tape) over the whole before washing.

I paid $70 for these - much more than I had wanted to because I liked them in different colors. Amazon must have lowered the price after seeing the complaints about how much less they cost elsewhere. Am seriously angry that I paid so much, BUT I've used them in 350 oven and they work fine. Have no idea about lead, etc. They do have that tiny little hole under the handle. and they are actually a little too large - impractical to have french onion soup all the way to the top where the cheese sort of covers the edge of the bowl.

Wash these bowls once, and the next time you use them in the microwave (or oven) WATCH OUT! Scolding hot water comes flooding out of the handle (through a small hole underneath). First time it happened, my child dropped the bowl and hot soup went everywhere. Then it happened to me and to others, every time we used them. Very poor and unsafe design!!! I wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer/seller gets sued.

5 of 6 bowls were not defective. Bubbling in the ceramic coating. Can't get help from Amazon.

Good Bowls

These bowls are wonderful for soup or anything else. They look as if they are difficult to hold in the photos but they're quite comfortable to hold and the handles don't get hot when used in the microwave. I've filled these with Chili, covered with foil and frozen. Taken them right from the freezer and put them into the oven then turned the oven on to 250 degrees to thaw then up to 350 to heat the chili to the perfect temperature. Also great for soups, crockpot meals split into portions, even home made mac & Cheese! They stack and store easily in the cabinets, freezer, fridge. Sadly I dropped one and broke it but the others work just fine.

These are MUCH bigger than I anticipated. I thought these would be good for an ice cream dish, however I'd be packing on the pounds if I used this! I do eat cereal out of them. It's a good healthy adult sized serving of cereal though! They look nice, and are very sturdy. Also, oven safe up to 350 only. Not quite the temp I'd like to cook my french onion soup at to get the browning on the cheese and bread.
