Q: This comes with all the software including the PT 8 software?

If you buy it brand new it'll come with pro tools 8, I don't know about used.

Yes, it will work with no problem. I'm running pro tools 11 myself. It's fully supported

Q: Bought one of those along with pro tools 12. my computer doesn't recognize the interface. is it just the firewire cord? which one is required?

It could either be the FireWire cord but mine worked perfect out the box you may just have to Get drivers from avid.com/drivers. And get the 003 rack drivers... hope that helps
