The Octonauts & the Frown Fish Review: Doctor Frown Fish - My daughter (3) LOVES the Octonauts and loves this book. The story is laid out similar to an Octonauts episode. They incorporate humor through out which my daughter loves and I love the subtle nerdy references that give the parents something to enjoy too. Review: This is a Must-Have in Home! - This story was absolutely fun and the kids were so into it! (Usually the kids won’t sit through a book reading before bed without constant redirecting to sit back). The kids sat through this whole story and loved all the illustrations! I had to give a good pause after reading each page for the kids to take a extra long look at the pictures! This one is a must-have in your home library 📚

We love these books
We love these books. My boys (3 & 5) find the original books to be more engaging than the ones based off the television series (which we also love.) The whimsy of these books, the beautiful artwork, the detail on the pages, all completely entrances them. Great books.

Super cute..
My 3 year old daughter has recently fallen in love with The Octonauts. After searching several retailers Amazon had the best price and availability of Octonauts books. I chose "The Frown Fish" based on the reviews and the cover art. The book is very cute and has a nice story. The art is wonderful and very detailed. My only complaint is that I felt like the story was a little short Andrew book a bit expensive at $13. All in all, it's a very nice hardback book.

Lovely
We found this book at the local library, and my lads, two and four, insisted we borrow it. I was expecting it to be like far too many of the other children's books I've read to them: so simple as to be completely uninteresting to those of us who have to read it. I was wrong. The illustrations are gorgeous, the story interesting, and included some delightful little "easter eggs" for us parents. My husband and I love to read it to our children, especially for the "dress up" page. We love the "magic user level 20," the Devo "rock star," and, best of all, the frown fish dressed as Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor! This book meets with the approval of both parents and children. A must-have!

Fun book of another Octonaut adventure
The Octonauts & the Frown Fish is another cute story where a sad fish arrives and the Octonauts try to cheer him up. They do a bunch of kind activities, to no avail, but in the end, all is well. Illustrations are great and colorful, and like other Octonaut books, some of the pages have to be turned longways to be viewed.

The texture of pages of the book is decent quality for the price quoted. The story curated is different from that of the video but the language is easy to understand and read. My seven year old nephew thoroughly enjoyed the book and keeps drawing characters drawn in them. He is eagerly waiting for rest of the parts to be gifted to him.

The Octonauts and the Frown Fish is Harry's first Octonauts book, so neither of us knew what to expect when we received it through the post. I was really impressed with the beautiful front cover, full of bright and bold colour that young readers will love and each of the main characters pictured so children can relate that to what they see on the television easily. This trend continues throughout the book, with the pictures being bright and very colourful, and a joy to look at. Unusually for a child's book, there is always a lot of illustrations on each page, even the smallest details are taken care of and each page is fantastic to look at. The characters all appear on each page and feature prominently, Harry loves going through and seeking them out on each page. The story follows the Octonauts coming a fish that looks very sad, always going around with a frown on its face. The Octonauts decide to take it upon themselves to try and cheer up the Frown Fish, with each of them offering up their own suggestion to make the Frown Fish smile, although none of it seems to work. The Octonauts have to figure out what it is about the Frown Fish that makes him special and save the day once more! It's an easy story for children to follow, with the opportunity for lots of discussion about the ideas going on, and also emotions too which I felt was a good topic for Harry and I to talk about while reading this, and why the creatures all enjoyed different things. The language used throughout the book is quite adult, and I would certainly say all young readers are going to need help reading this, or even just having an adult read it just like I have to with Harry. Some of the terms used are hard for youngsters to get their heads around, but me explaining the ideas to Harry usually sorts it out. The text print is quite small too so not overly child friendly. However, I've found Harry is far more interested in the gorgeous illustrations on each page than the words and is more than content with me reading to him while he points out things all over the book. One thing I adore about this book is while the majority is landscape like the book itself, there are a couple of double page spreads which are printed vertically and so you have to spin the book around to read it, making for a fun and tactile reading experience that children will just love! I think this is a great book for any child that is a fan of the Octonauts series on the television, and will no doubt be enjoyed countless times as it has been already by Harry and I! It's a fairly long book for young ones at 40 pages long, but when you're reading it does seem to go quickly, unless you have little fingers pointing everywhere and wanting to talk about everything! I bought Harry's copy for £3.50 on Amazon which is a great price for such a good quality book. The pages and cover are nice and thick, although the fact it is a paperback means it might show the wear and tear a little more easily, and the illustrations are wonderfully colourful and really stand out every time you read. It's a fun story, a gorgeous book and one Harry and I definitely recommend!

My 3yo son is obsessed with Octonauts, so we got him a couple of the books. The stories are great - engaging, informative, compassionate (the Octonauts are always helping!), and entertaining. The illustrations are beautiful, and have a million details; my son notices new ones every time. We've read this book at least once a day since we got it! (and I'm not even sick of it yet!). The frown fish is a fave as it has a surprise twist!
