The quality is excellent. The finish is beautiful and very durable. The company states that metal utensils are fine to use and I can definitely verify this. We use a metal spatula with it all the time, and there is absolutely no scratching of the finish. It has a glossy finish that has been very easy to clean. It seems to heat evenly. Honestly there is not one negative thing I can say about it! This was the first piece of Emile Henry we have purchased. We were a bit hesitant to pay such a high price, when there are well-reviewed items costing a fraction of this. But it is well worth the cost, and we fully intend on buying more of their dishes. Next on my list is the pie dish. Can't wait to have this quality when making quiche!

The Emil Henry dish is great. Something about it works differently from our old metal pan. I think it was a bargain

The Emile Henry baking dish has an attractive appearance -- thick glaze, heavy weight and a crafted look. It cleans easily & was made in France. The only criticism I have is that although the bottom is mostly glazed the unglazed parts were a little rough. Fortunately my husband was able to improve that using very fine emory cloth (a superfine sandpaper). The EH baking dish came very well packaged. Compared to the Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware 8" square dish the quality of the Emile Henry seems better. While the color of the Le Creuset is whiter, its shape was a bit out of square and the bottom rocked slightly. (It was made in China.) The Le Creuset was wrapped in only a thin sheet of bubble wrap with empty space in the shipping box so it could slide around.

Outstanding quality and finish. Can't beat its performance for baking. I have an oval Emile Henry baking dish that's over 35 years old and still holding up--the dishes were a little more "rustic" in finish but nothing can beat their performance. French cook and bake ware are first class and a real pleasure to own and use. Nothing wrong with Pyrex but it's like comparing KFC with a real roast chicken!

I like Emile Henry products. I have several bakers, and they perform very well. Heat is evenly distributed. They are deep so I never worry about overflow in the oven. I first used it this Thanksgiving, and it was perfect. So far my experience has been that these ceramic bakers are sturdy and easy to clean with soap and water. I have not experienced a problem with scratching.

I don't usually review items I've bought, but I love this casserole dish! So much so, I bought a second one. I'm 60 years old and, after all the years in the kitchen, decided I was tired of the cheap 13 X 9 pans I've been buying. I compared the price and reviews of other pans, and decided on this one. My husband usually does the dishes, but he had a meeting tonight. I moved the leftovers to another container and put this in the sink. It had brown drips on the outside where my casserole had run over, and the dish had been in the refrigerator for a few days. Everything cleaned up easily and quickly, inside and out. Love it!

This was a beautiful pan when I purchased it just about 2 years ago, and the description said it was dishwasher safe, so I always put it in the dishwasher for cleaning. Well, over time, it has completely lost its glaze, it stains easily and is now very difficult to keep clean and looks junky. Looking back, it has to be putting it in the dishwasher that has stripped it. It also chipped easily as the side chipped only because it touched a plate in the dishwasher. I am fairly disappointed in its lack of durability and the fact that it really does not stand up to being placed in the dishwasher. If you get this pan, only hand wash it. Make sure all oils are cleaned off before baking with it again. (BTW, as I write this in Nov 2024, the price has gone up $14 in the last 2 years since I purchased it in Nov 2022. Inflation has been a frustrating thing.) If this really has a 10-year warranty, I should get a new one. Will need to see how to request a replacement. Update: Added a star from 3 to 4 due to good customer service. I noticed it does have a 10-year warranty, so I contacted the company through my order link and they quickly responded and sent me a replacement pan. (That is the second picture shown.) I will only hand wash this new pan and see how its durability is over time.

These, as are all Emile Henry products, are beautiful and shine with quality. I will be using these in my Breville Smart Oven Air, as well as regular oven. I have to admit that these are more pleasant looking to me than the Ultime line. This HR Modern line was developed to appeal to North Americans. Huh. I never thought I would become predictable. But, these are clean and sharp looking. They even feel better to me than the Ultime ones did. Emile Henry did a great job with this line.

Nice hardy and good looking dish.

“it has superior heat diffusion and heat retention properties and it keeps food hot on the table longer. It is extremely hard glaze does not scratch and does not craze. The highly resistant glaze is ideal in the kitchen for making delicious meals and desserts. It is durable for everyday use” And then it cracked in half in the first use on the stove. I want a reimbursement or replacement, not worth the premium price.

Great ceramic baking dish at a pretty good price. EH is a quality brand. You can’t go wrong with this purchase.
