Firestik 2MCKB 4 Ft -122 Cm 2-Meter Base Antenna

Easy to assemble...took less than 5 minutes. Set it on a 24ft single pole and was hitting repeaters 40+ miles away right away. Checked the SWR and it was 1.1 to 1.3 across the entire band.UPDATE: I have been using this for several days now and can't be happier. Easily getting into a repeater 100+ miles away with 25 watts...which is minimum power for my particular in-house radio. Just for kicks I connected it to an older 4-watt Kenwood HT...and hit repeaters 40+ miles away.UPDATE #2: I have been using this antenna for a little over a year now...it is still working perfectly and allowing me to talk across repeaters 80 -100 miles away.UPDATE #3: As of today (September 24th, 2018), I have been using this antenna daily for 2 full years. I am just as happy with it now as I was the day I first put it up.Great performance.Great antenna...

I installed this antenna today at about 20' - construction is very good quality,and went together in a snap. Very light, very easy to install. I put it up onthe mast, and checked the SWR with my MFJ-259 - although the antenna hits lowestSWR at the bottom of the band (144.00) it was totally within reason all the wayto 148.00 - and about 2:1 in the main repeater bands. This was out of the box,no tweaking or adjusting - pretty darn good IMO.I got it connected to my Yaesu FT-2900 FM rig - gave a call on 52 simplex - andwithin seconds had a 5x9 report from 15 miles away!! I wasn't expecting that!So yes - this IMO is a VERY nice 2-meter base antenna. Great seller/shipper too.

*Edit* I got this antenna 30 feet in the air and SWR is good, so appears my first reaction was premature. After having this antenna for a few months, it is a good performer, and am pleasantly surprised. For the price I would recommend.This antenna was of great value and very easy to assemble, but noticed SWR is 1.2:1 at 144Mhz and SWR rises to 3:1 or higher, depending on power, at 148Mhz. Appears the antenna is a little long as I would like for SWR to be lower at 146Mhz. I have not adjusted it yet, but the radials can be bent down to lower the impedance at the feedpoint, which will lower SWR, OR peel back a little bit of the coating and trim a very very small amount like a 32nd of an inch off the end of the wire. I'm going to play around with this and see if it can be tuned more to my liking. Giving it 4 stars because it should have been tuned to the middle of the band.

The price and the materials used are fair and from that you get your money’s worth. However, functionality out of the box, not so much. Mine, the SWR was 2.4. Which is usable for short Tx. You going to run into problems when you rag chew on this if untuned.When purchased it it said it was tuned already. I know every location is different and surroundings also play a part. But 1.8 would’ve been fine, 2.4 is too much for just 2m.I’ll just stick to building my own antennas for 2m. They could’ve done better for nearly $70 after tax. My 1/4 wave ground plane, that I broke, worked much better at a lower height and more concealable. It’s humongous!!! I purchased it to avoid the rigors of tuning. Better luck next time.

Inexpensive, well made, and resonant. Good budget 2m antenna.

Very easy to assemble . I have mine up about 45 feet on the same pole that my vertical 10 m antenna is on . I used RG8X cable and the SWR was about 1/1 . I can easily get into repeaters 40 miles away in all directions but one . My house is located halfway up a mountain and there is a lot of granite between me the repeaters in that direction . I'm very pleased with the performance and would buy it again .

Worked well for two weeks and failed. Replaced with home brew antenna that is working great.

Got this too use for our business channel and wasn't sure it would work. I contacted Firestik and was told how much to cut it to tune for our channel and it works great. We replaced a small 1/4 wave and range is much improved and the reception is crystal clear. Thanks for a great product.
