Q&A a Day: 5-Year Journal

Do You Like to Think and Write?
In a book I read recently, the author said she liked to ask herself questions and write the answers to them. If you like to write and like to think about diverse topics, you might enjoy the exercise to stretch your mind. It's said that 90% of the thought we have are repetitive. So, to get ourselves out of the repetitive rut, it's good to be asked questions. This Q&A a Day: 5 Year Journal does that. There are 365 questions for you to answer over the next 5 years. It will be fun to look back and see what you are thinking on any day on particular topics. Some questions are profound such as what is your mission? Some questions are light and frothy such as What's the most expensive thing you're wearing now? I sometimes tailor the question if I don't feel like answering the one asked to something similar. For example, instead of what's the most expensive think you're wearing, asked what items of clothes do you hanker for now?The appearance of this journal is attractive--love the gold-tipped pages and lovely cover. Like other reviewers would have LOVED a ribbon to hold your place.I like the small size of this as it's big enough to record 3-5 short sentences per day and fits on my side table with other books--bought it along with The Happiness Project One-Sentence Journal: A Five-Year Record and they're both about the same size. My grandmother kept a 5-year journal. It is fun to look back and see what you were thinking about and doing several years ago in the different chapters of your life. This is a great original gift to give to another for people who like to write, think, be creative and read.

Love it!
It gives you a specific question every day to answer and jot down. There are a few lines to write down and then has other sections on the same page for the same question for the next 4 years to come. I love it. The book is super small & cute.

Great way to journal
This is a great little journal. You have about 5 lines to answer the question of the day. The questions are good.

A genius premise, with insightful (& sometimes hilarious) prompts...
I've been writing on a daily basis since I was four years old, but I have trouble keeping up with a daily journal that will document my adult life, so this book is the perfect way to remind myself to stop and reflect on my values/loved ones/daily habits every day. I'm terrified that I'll lose it after keeping up with it for the first few years (I misplace things, temporarily and permanently, on a regular basis), or that I'll forget it at home on a long trip... but the majority of the entries aren't specific to that particular day, so when I forget for a few days, I always make sure to catch up. And it's thick enough to find it easily in a stack of papers. The premise:This is definitely a fascinating experiment in human growth, and while I wish I'd started a few years ago, I think ages 27-32 will be particularly full of change, progress, and insight. I'm also still "finding myself" so to speak... and I'm sure I'll be laughing at my own naivete when I revisit the same pages a couple years later. The questions:As a creative writer, I can always appreciate a good prompt... and after a month of use, I appreciate how many of them get me to think and write about things I never would've considered otherwise. There's also a very good mix of specific and general questions, so I never get bored or feel forced to write about uninteresting or generic topics. The outside:On a purely superficial note, the book is very high-quality, though if you throw it in a bag with other objects (as I did), the gold trim will get some noticeable dents. The size is just right for easy transport, and the pages are just thick enough to let me use fine-point Sharpies without bleeding through. I'm glad my handwriting is small, though, because four lines are barely enough to contain everything that flows out of me.

Great gift!
I have bought so many of these over the years. It's not a diary, because it just asks one question every day and you answer it. Over a 5-year period you see how you and your answers have changed. It's a perfect gift, or gift accompaniment, for a birthday, wedding, going away gift, congratulations gift etc. It's something you may not initially think of, but it is always well received.
