Sound Oasis - White Noise Sound Card

Heading a repetitive sound in the background after playing the pink noise for a few hours. Not helpful to my sleep, which was what I bought it for.

When we ordered the Sound Oasis S-550-05 Sound Therapy System we decided to get the sound card as well given the relatively inexpensive cost and the sound samples that we heard on the website. I use white noise to help deal with my tinnitus at bed time and we're glad that we purchased the card because the setting on the unit was pretty underwhelming sound wise. The sound card was a big improvement over the unit setting, much more volume and a less tinny pitch.

I'm rather disappointed in this card. Have the Sounds for Sleep card and thought this one might be better...after all, who could sleep with a train noise (on the Sounds for Sleep card). These White Noise sounds are all high-pitched (higher range) and I prefer lower pitched sounds to block out vehicle noises from the mega-store's parking lot behind my house and from my spouse's occasional snoring. I'll keep this card, of course, but probably won't use it much.

Great mix of white noise sounds, to drown out various noise sources. Works perfect.

White-pink etc noise selections are nowhere near as good as the white noise built into the Oasis AND really inferior to anything available on YouTube. Super disappointing!

At first this card - and actually the device in general - seemed too quiet and a little shrill. For the volume I just put it closer (duh!). For the shrillness I put the device on its back on a washcloth. Now I actually have it hanging on the wall right by my bed with the washcloth taped to the back. It's a little slapdash, but it works really well for me. Love it!

The plug sometimes work and sometimes doesn’t work. It appears there is a problem. Would not buy again.

I had a hard time finding a sound I liked on the Sound Oasis. I got one that came with the rhythms of the sea card, but all the sounds had an over-exaggerated sound of trickling water. I like the sound of rolling waves at the beach, but it's like they held a microphone to the waves and then amplified the sound of the water trickling into the sand by like 100 times. The result is ridiculous, I kept focusing on the trickling sound and couldn't get to sleep.As a result, the only sound I liked in the Sound Oasis was the default white noise - but that got a little creepy after a while. It just starts sounding weirder the longer you listen to it. It drove me to get the white noise sound card and after trying a few of them out, I found that I love the brown noise setting. It's a warmer hum than the white noise and in the background you can hear a metal tinking sound, like a water heater creaking as it's warming up. It's soothing and helps me get to sleep better in an apartment with an upstairs neighbor.
