I had to troubleshoot a big class A audio amplifier that we suspected was failing due to overheating.I got several of these thermometers and placed them on the heat sinks and other parts of the circuitry so I was able to get real life measurements easily.I don't know if they are "accurate" since I didn't test them against another type, but the ones I got are consistent, meaning they all measure the same temp under identical conditions.And for macro measurements, such as room temp, they measured the same thing as the thermostat in the AC... so for what it's worth.Plus, oh... yeah... they look cool if you like meters, knobs, switches, lights..... ;-)
