Q: Has this product been tested (yes/no) for metals/contaminants?

Here's an independent test of 25 different Spirulina products for heavy metal contamination. NOW is one of the cleaner ones. TAAU from Australia is by far the most pure and you can read further information on their website including independent test results. However, I contacted TAAU and they did not perform any testing for BMAA contamination, which is disappointing but there are no other Spirulina brands so far that can produce independent lab test results for BMAA testing. Q: Hi i received an order of this product. the top of the seal has 5 pin holes. is this supposed to be or has someone tampered with it? please advise

I know this is old thread but the holes are normal. I contacted NOW and they stated the holes are put there to prevent static buildup in the product. NOW received complaints about people opening the canisters and product “jumping” out, causing loss of product. The 5 equidistant holes should be oriented in a pentagon shape. My bottle had the holes in the seal but the other cap was heat sealed.

Q: How long will a pound of Spirulina powder last?

It depends on how much you use... I put a tablespoon in a smoothie every morning and it lasts a month.
