With a few caveats, not bad
Generally, nice lamp. I use it with small golfball-sized LED bulbs of low power (20 watt equivalent) so the place looks like a home and not an operating theater. However ...* the base isn't really heavy enough - if the arm is extended the balance of the whole thing gets a bit dicey* the bottom of the base is just hard plastic and could be a bit rough on the finish of whatever furniture it's sitting on* the power cord is absurdly short - about 4 feet - and the inline switch is annoying to use, since the area near the base has to be accessible - not a problem with articulated lights when their power switches are up on the lamp itself, since that end is more easily accessible* while I'm a big fan of grounded appliances in general, it seems a bit grandiose here. You'll need a 3-prong outlet.* the articulated arms are very short, much shorter than usual on this type of lamp - whether that's a bug or a feature depends on your application.Note that if the lamp is just stuck in the base it will flop around a lot. The trick is to push it in all the way. The photos here do NOT show it correctly - push it in further, and things will work a lot better.

Perfect for desk light
I’m old. Er, older than I use to be. I require much more light these days when working at my desk or reading. I have two of these lamps now- one on each side of my computer monitor. The husband has one on his side of our double desk set up. These lamps do not flicker like the LED lamps I had before. I loved the white light from the LED, but the flickering was making me crazy. These use standard bulbs and we just put the daylight whites in.Not related, but a tip- we have smart plugs and lights all over our condo. So now we just have to say, “Alexa, turn office lights on” and voila! :)Love, love, love these. Just wish they had USB charge ports, but otherwise, they’re perfect for us.

To my surprise.... IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY! *In Black*
I went into this purchase after reading many of the reviews, so I was prepared to do alterations and all to see it fit for my use. To my relief no alterations were necessary to install the CLAMP base on the BLACK lamp. I did however cut two tiny pieces from my yoga mat to act as a grip between both sides of the clamp and my table top. Perfect! The reviews are correct on how "tight" the adjustable joints are tightened at arrival. You can still pull it, to your liking, with force. My guess is so that is stays secured and not bouncing all around the box during transport. Ah ha, I have Phillips screwdriver and a 7mm socket wrench! Using those tools gave me full freedom to adjust the arms the way I wanted them to move. It has fantastic movement for where and how far away you want the light to be *given it's dimensions*Be advised of the product's total extended height, cord length, plug type (*3 pronged), and on/off switch placement on the cord. I was, so in addition I purchased an Amazon basics, UL rated, 6ft long, 3 pronged extension cord for really cheap. It's perfect. The lamp doesn't come with the bulb you will use. Which is fine because it is not included. I really enjoy the bulb I bought for the lamp. It solves the complaint issues others had about the bulb sticking out passed the hood. I purchased a Satco 7&1/2 watt, medium base, S11 (height of bulb), in red. I can't tell you how happy I am with my lamp set up. I LOVE LAMP.

Cheap dangerous junk
Yes, I know it's like $20 and I shouldn't be surprised that it's not that great, but the photos are deceiving and I'm here to make sure you don't make the same mistake. The base is plastic with some kind of heavy weight inside to stabilize the lamp but probably mostly to give it the illusion of quality. The lamp doesn't actually securely fasten to either base - you just jam it into a hole in the plastic. The actual bulb socket is probably not up to spec - I tried several bulbs that didn't appear to work at first but needed to be screwed into the lamp very tightly and then they would turn on. This is hazardous in multiple ways - the bulb could shatter in your hand as you try to twist it in far enough, or there could be just enough of a gap between the base of the bulb and the electrical contact in the socket that sparks/arcing could occur. Lastly and probably worst of all, the shade/reflector is too small and a standard size light bulb sticks out of the bottom of the shade, completely defeating the purpose of the shade in the first place. You have to turn it completely away from yourself otherwise it's just shining right in your eyes the entire time.

Read above
The lamp I heavy enough but the attachment into the circular base is poor. There is no screw to insure that the lamp won't fall out...it is attached with pushing into the opening.....Not secure enough for the weight of the metal lamp.
