cats are happy, so am I
I try to feed my kitties premium food that's high protein, low carb, and as species-appropriate as I can manage. I also look to give them a wide variety of foods to make sure they're getting all their nutrition needs and hopefully not growing into finicky little things!Tiki Cat's After Dark line fits the bill for my kitties. Sure, a pair of under-9lb cats wouldn't be able to take down a deer in the wild. But they *really* like the taste, it's loaded with protein and organ meat, and it's fairly low in carbohydrates, which aren't a natural part of an obligate carnivore's diet. All in all, I'm happy with this food. And more importantly, my cats are happy to eat it.

Great Quality, My Cat Loves It!
Tiki Cat After Dark is one of the few wet foods my cat consistently devours. I love that it’s made with real meat and organs, no weird fillers or grains. It smells fresh (for cat food!) and seems to keep my cat full and happy. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality.

Most of my cats like it
2 out of my 3 cats love it, which is quite a feat in my household.Good ingredients (good), but a little higher kcal than some other meats but still reasonable.

Ingredients are decent. My cats won’t touch it
I wanted to switch them over to a better quality wet food. They’re currently on Fancy Feast, which isn’t horrible. However, I started spotting small pieces of fish bone in their Fancy Feast Seafood Medley pâtés. I had never encountered this, before, but I can no longer feed them Fancy Feast now that I know quality control is an issue. That being said, I was excited for them to try the Tiki Cat. Tiki Cat After Dark was recommended by a cat nutritionist I follow on Instagram. After doing my own research, I decided to give it a go. While a bit pricey, I was fine with spending the money— especially because my four cats split about two cans a day. I free feed them Farmina N&D and supplement with wet food for added hydration (and for extra calories for my senior cat who is more prone to being on the thinner side).Anyway, unfortunately, my cats wouldn’t give this a chance. As soon as I opened it, my senior cat, who is amongst the pickiest of the four of them, literally just walked away. My two other boys gave it a smell and a taste, but they ultimately decided it was a “no” from them, as well. This isn’t really Tiki Cat’s problem, so I still have them four stars. It is worth noting that, if you have a picky eater, or any cat used to less-premium food options, then you may have a more difficult time transitioning them. The good thing about canned food, however, is you can donate the unopened cans to a nearby shelter or rescue. An opened bag of dry food would have been more of a waste.

This is an update to my first review!
My first review of this food was good. I gave it 4 stars. I thought this new recipe was basically the same as the original, and it is, but this new recipe has flared up my kitties allergies. There is an ingredient in this food, that is called "brewers dried yeast". In the old recipe, there was a similar ingredient called "dried yeast". I tried to find out, if there was a difference between the two, but I could not get a definitive answer. All I know is.... That the "Brewers Dried yeast", has a good chance of flaring up your kitties allergies. My baby has a yeast infection in his ears, and I know it is because of this food. My vet put him on an ear cream, twice a day, and made me change his wet food. I had to put him on another wet food(Rabbit, different company) for 2 months, and see how he does. So far, he seems to be doing great, after just a week. Also, because of this food, he was scratching his skin a lot! Brewers dried yeast does have some benefits, but like I said, it can cause allergy issues. I also tried one of the other new recipe's... The "Rabbit and Chicken liver". This recipe has the same ingredients as the "Venison and Beef liver"... Well, this caused my cat to have problems with his allergies, too. What I am trying to say is.... I tried a different novel protein(from Tiki), and that didn't help. I believe the "Brewers dried Yeast" is the culprit. My cat ate the "Venison and beef"(the original recipe) for about a year and a half, and he never had any problems. Now(with this new recipe) he can't eat it at all. Also, this food has very high phosphorus levels(causes renal/kidney failure). I saw others complain about this in their reviews, so I searched it out myself, and these reviewers are so right. So, if you are going to be feeding your cat any of these new pate' recipe's, proceed with caution. I definitely do not recommend this food.

Not for everybody.
Cats are picky, very picky. One of my cats, the one I intended this food for, turned his nose up at this food instantly. My other cat gobbles it down as if it were filet mignon. He seems satisfied with it, but since he doesn't need the benefits of this food, I probably won't be buying it again.
