I gave The Berenstain Bears 12-Book Phonics Fun! set to my niece for Christmas, and she absolutely loves it! The books are small and easy for her to handle, and she enjoys reading about the beloved Berenstain Bears while learning short and long vowel sounds. The stories are engaging, and the colorful illustrations keep her excited to read more. It's a fantastic way to build her reading confidence while making learning fun. I’m thrilled to see her enjoying and benefiting from these books. A perfect gift for young readers!

These were perfect for my nephew when he was learning to read

My 5 year old is moving beyond the one word reading stage and I bought these along with 'little readers' to transition her to reading sentences. Both are a success, but these ones are a little more exciting to her because she knows the characters and they have more of a story. She reads them 95% independently, compared to ~90% independently for the Little Readers (level C). The sentence structure and plot is actually more advanced I think, but there are essentially no words longer than 6 letters, except Brother. Little Readers, on the other hand relies more an repetition and short sentences to teach but includes some longer words. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. If you think the example pages are too advanced for your little one, I suggest working on single words first. There are lots of great tools out there to each sounding out 3 and 4 letter words one at a time. I used Stacker Cracker 'Sound Swap' game and didn't move on to this until she could read most of the words easily.

I would give 5 stars, but I am missing book #4 and instead received 2 of book #3. But the books are very cute, and mistakes happen.

My son has been using a very structured Phonics program that is systematically going through each letter and vowel sound by groups. He has reached the point of reading sentences and I wanted to try and encourage his effort. After looking at many different little Phonics books, I decided to give these a try. Being a former teacher, I knew that there would be words he wouldn't know and that I would need to sit with him as he read. From reading several comments about these books not being for early readers, I have to wonder what they expected. Considering these are Berenstain Bears books with solid values and easy wording with each book focusing on one early Phonics concept (example Short "A"), I think these books are great for early readers! No, the kids are not going to be able to read EVERY word but, that's why parents should be sitting with their kiddos to read with them at this stage. I like that the words that are used in the book are listed on the opening page so that the person reading with the child can go over the words ahead of time. I also like the fact that the illustrations represent what the kids are reading BUT, they don't necessarily give away the words they need to read. I think these books are a great way to encourage early readers in their journey into the world of books!

I love adding these little books to the party bags when I throw a birthday party for my kids. I like to mix education with fun. They are the perfect size to fit in a box or bag.

Great find! Wholesome books that are just the right level for my daughter. She is currently around first grade level (we homeschool). She can read these with still some challenge in there, as there are some more difficult words but nothing she can't sound out from spelling rules she has already learned! Very happy with this purchase!

This is a great set, but certainly not for very beginners. Some words are quite difficult for 4-5 year olds.

Cute little stories, I recommend for kids just starting to learn to read. Not too many words, not too little.

ich hatte eigentlich ein Buch mit diversen Geschichten erwartet, nicht eine halbvolle, instabile Papp-Box mit kleinen Heftchen, die den Namen 'Geschichte' nicht verdienen, insbesondere nicht für 'first readers' Vielleicht hatte ich die Beschreibung nicht genau genug gelesen. Die Berenstain Bear Geschichten mag mein Sohn super gerne, daher wollte ich gerne eine weitere Geschichtensammlung für ihn. Die einzelnen Geschichten umfassen 6 Textseiten mit jeweils 3-4 Zeilen Schrift. Dafür, dass es als 'I can read' eingestuft wird, sind die Geschichten viel zu kurz und nicht anspruchsvoll. Das Niveau ist eher auf Alter 2-3 -jährige. Diesmal super enttäuscht von dieser Berenstain Bear Sammlung

Size of the books are a little small. And I found the vocabulary to be a little difficult for young learners.

The readers have wholesome content and are enjoyable for my kids. It's carry case came a bit bent, they should have bubble wrapped, but all the books were fine.
