Nice depth to bowl, but very lightweight.
This birdbath is a great size and fairly attractive; but be aware that it is very lightweight plastic. So far, it has only been knocked over once; and fortunately it did not break. However, I don't feel warm and fuzzy about its sturdiness. I really like the depth of the bowl, and the little raised place in the center - lots of the smaller birds seem to use that area. Will see how it fares in the Arizona summer before getting too excited. In hindsight, the white wouldn't be my first choice, only because the birds tend to poop when sitting around the edge and it gets pretty nasty looking if it isn't cleaned daily. My previous one was a dark green, and didn't show dirt, etc., as easily. So far, it has met my needs, which is to provide water for the birds, and I don't want to use metal or concrete in AZ as they just get too hot in the summer.

worked out good for us.
no problems with this purchase. good delivery and satisfactory in all ways. this is not a great item, I would have purchased a concrete one had I seen it before getting this one. yet, it is fine for our purposes. a sandbag in bottom is necessary. one concern, green algae is starting to grow every three days.

Keep Looking -- This Is Not Worth The Trouble!
This is a total piece of junk and I would send it back for a refund except 1) shipping would be too costly and 2) I've adapted mine to work (somewhat). This item arrived with NO instructions, but was fairly simple to figure out. It SHOULD have arrived with an apology!!! It is actually three pieces (not two as stated in the description) of VERY thin plastic. 1) Top/Bath 2) Stand 3) Bottom Cover The top/bath part only has the "island" because that is where the stand is inserted into the top. Then there is a bottom cover for the base. Also provided was a packet of tiny, flimsy metal "nuts" meant to be self-threading onto six thin plastic prongs. These are used to secure the bottom cover to the stand. If you are hoping to weight this somehow, you are on your own. The stand and bottom cover won't hold water and the flimsy metal nuts on the thin plastic prongs are not strong enough to hold sand or gravel. One star because the basin holds water.

How to assemble
Flimsy but this is what we did. Comes in 3 pieces: top bath, pedestal, round black plastic bottom with a package of "nuts". I filled the pedestal with small rocks and very carefully placed the round black plastic, words to outside, onto the small white pegs at the bottom of the pedestal. The black plastic snapped on just fine but the pegs are fragile so be careful. Then with another person holding the pedestal and mounted black plastic, each nut was placed, with flat side down to meet the base, over each white peg. Screw each nut down by taking a pliers and gripping the base of the nut - not the top where the peg is- and it should screw down just fine. Then with my hand on the assembled base, I righted the bird bath, pushed the top on, and filled it with water. No birds yet, but the thing looks functional. The nuts confused us at first - how do they go on? Do they push on? When we finally decided they go with the flat side to the base, and that they indeed screw on, all was fine. But why didn't the company just make a solid base, with a hole in the top of the pedestal for rocks, and then the bath that screws on. The way this was made was a dumb idea.

Some assembly required
The pedestal bath is nice looking and has held up well. As one reviewer wrote the stand is indeed hollow and has no bottom to keep the rocks or sand in. I turned the pedestal upside down, shoved in a kitchen trash bag, poured in sand, tied the trash bag and this let me set the pedestal with a good amount of weight. As insurance, once I leveled the spot for it, drilled two 3/8 inch holes near the edge of the base and drove two landscape nails [10 inches in length] through the base into the ground. It has held up well even in heavy winds. I don't actually use it as a bath. I filled in the depression where the water goes with sand and set a round ceramic dish on it to hold bird food.

If you want cheap, you got it!
Well, it's just cheap in my opinion. It is white plastic, and quite porous. Water alga accumulates and shows very fast. The white base gets dirty fast. It's just plain ol'..... incompatible with long term satisfaction. It is functional, but looks like cheap plastic. And the entire base is hollow and lightweight. You get what you pay for. I can complain, but next time I'd add this cost to something else and get a better one. I feel like I need to go out and buy some paint to change this pure white flimsy bird bath. But I refuse to put more $ into it.

Wonderfully easy and will buy more!
Wonderful purchase! We have been looking for this exact bird bath for years! We have an old one (30 years old) in white that is the favorite of all the birds, expspecially the larger birds--woodpecker, crows, and blue jays. Ordered the bronze color so the dirt wouldn't show as in the white one. Ordered on the 18th and it arrived on the 22nd with just regular shipping! Opened the box, carried it outside, rinsed and filled it in less than five minutes. Did not attach the bottom as we think it will do fine in wind here, but for people who complained about how to use screws, those are not screws. My husband said they are to be SNAPPED into place! We also ordered the fountain for our flat bottomed birdbath. Could not have been easier!! Husband chose a nozzle and walked out the door as I'm saying, "Don't you need direction?" He set it in and it started flowing INSTANTLY! Bath made in USA :) Fountain, China. Sharing photos! Will most likely buy more of each for family and ourselves!
