Must have for outdoorsy-people.
I purchased these thinking they would be nothing more than a 'want', and rarely be used. But after putting them on I immediately wondered; "how the hell did I live this long without owning a pair of these?" A constant in my hunting life was plant debris in and on top of the boots, lower plants soaked from dew or mud. Wanting to reverse the annoyances I bought these impulsively and tested them on a 7 day hunt Elk hunt in Colorado. Not only did they hold up, they punched Mother Nature in the face. From river bottoms to the mountain top they kept my legs warm, which helped keep the feet warm, repelled snap, brush, dew, and when I stepped into some wet, swampy ground, they kept the upper boot/leg area dry. Quality exceeds its monetary value. You will not regret this purchase.

Quality seems to match the low price, but it works.
I was very skeptical when purchasing this item, due to the low cost, and then when it arrived, I was really skeptical, due to the low budget, cheap appearance of these around the edges. The Velcro strap that goes around the shoe bottom did not look like it would accommodate my shorter application (waterproof trail running shoes) to the longer application (trail running shoes under large rubber overshoes) and in between (waterproof hiking boots) but it does. And quite surprisingly the darn things actually work, and I stayed dry in deep snow. The fabric is a poly coated nylon canvas. The ability to tighten around the top is important to me, and this item, although in a low quality way, does it and it works. Note that the straps that go under the foot, both fasten on the left side, rather than both on the outside, as in a higher quality set with actual buckles. The longevity of this rather small Velcro strip is yet to be determined, but works fine for now.

Inexpensive gator for hiking
I bought this primarily for going backpacking in the wilderness to keep out:1. Rain/moisture2. Ticks3. DirtFor Rain and Dirt, this worked perfectly well: my legs stayed dry, and at the end of the day, I was not covered in dust. I did not get to test it with ticks -- and let's keep it that way :)If you found this review helpful, please hit the "Yes" button to encourage me to write more. Thank you!

Great for snow hiking
I have used these a couple times to hike in the deep snow and they shed great! Combined with waterproof hiking boots, I'm staying toasty dry. They are also quiet and easy to put on and stay in place. Photo shows them in action on the trail

I got a size small and they fit great.
I just wore these for a VERY muddy trail run that included a walk through creek crossing. There was no chance for dry feet but they kept my ankles and calves warm and dry. See photo attached. The price was right for me and they did the trick! I got a size small and they fit great.

An excellent product at a low price
This is the 4th pair of gaiters I have worn over many years of hiking, winter and summer. I like them best of all. The material is tough, the wide velcro closure does an excellent job. I learned that if I start closing at the bottom near the hook, it takes only seconds to get the velcro just right. Then the hook can be fitted to a boot/shoe lace.I found that for these to fit over my size 12 EEEE (US) winter running shoes, I needed to loosen the bottom strap to their furthest possible extend, using only 1/2" of the velcro fastener. That amount of fastening is plenty tough and does not pull open. These are the only gaiters I've had that will properly cover the entire top of my shoes, I particularly like that the sides of the gaiters extend down well below the top of the shoe. This has been a problem with all my other gaiters. Some other reviewers had problems with rain entering their boots, however this has not been my experience. The winter running shoes I have are bulkier than my leather hiking boots and yet these gaiters, with the bottom strap let out, are more than enough to keep the rain out. (Do not expect the combination to keep you dry while wading. They are not meant for that.)I find that the combination of Arctic weight smart wool socks, the winter running shoes and these gaiters are as warm working in the snow at 15 deg F as my insulated winter boots and the combination is much lighter and more comfortable. I don't think they would last long if I was just standing around, but for jobs I do every day, such as hauling wood or clearing snow up to 2 ft deep, they are perfectly warm. I am most pleased with these gaters.

Needs a mid size between small and medium
A previous reviewer said that the small size was too small for her, even though she is very small, so I ordered the medium and found it a bit too large. It is very large around the ankle, and the gaiters are very tall - ok if standing but uncomfortable with knees bent. I ordered a small to check the size but they were MUCH too small - they barely fit around my naked calf. I'll keep them and hope I don't have to use them much. Other than that, they are well made and look very durable. I am not sure about the strap that goes under my boot. I don't have much lift on the instep of the sole of my boot, so the strap will be in contact with the ground. Perhaps there needs to be a boot or gaiter rethink if modern hiking boots have flat bottoms. I have ditched my uncomfortable, unflattering, noisy and bulky rain pants for gaiters and a rain poncho so I am hoping this works.Update: Completed an 80 mile hike in Northern England in dodgy weather. Gaiters and a rain poncho beat rain pants and a rain jacket any day!!

Helped make it to the top of Mount Saint Helens!
These were purchased specifically for a hike to the rim of Mount St. Helens, Washington. The active volcano has considerable pumice that ranges in size from fine sand up to 1 inch (or more) chunks. (There are also large fields of larger rocks.) The gaiters did an outstanding job in keeping the small rocks and fine sand out of the boots ... and the sections of snow encountered were also traversed without it getting into the boots. So these clearly did the job. The manufacture is of reasonable quality considering the price paid. The strap across the bottom does not show any wear from the Mt. St. Helens hike (out and back 10 miles with a 4600 ft elevation gain). These will remain as part of regular hiking gear for other hikes where fine/small rocks or sticker-weeds are a problem.
