I wanted a leather journal for a long time but was always put off by the price. But I am retired and in my 60s already, so if not now, when? I went ahead and purchased this journal, and I am very happy with it. I write every morning, and that ritual has become more pleasurable and feels more elegant somehow, holding this lovely journal in my hands. And it is refillable. In fact, I had a different insert, bought awhile ago, that I chose to use first because I wanted to have lines (the included insert is unlined), and I had no problem fitting it into the two pockets of the journal cover. The leather stretches as it's used. At first it was a little difficult to keep open while writing but now it opens nicely. A cord loops over the front decoration (a leaf) to keep it closed when not in use. Oberon included a small dragonfly charm with my order, along with a thoughtful sheet--on cardstock paper--with suggestions on how to keep the journal nice (including "feeding" it annually with a leather-care product). I felt like I was being welcomed to the family. Absolutely this was worth the money.

My husband has been searching for a well crafted artisan journal for a long time now so I gave it to him for Christmas. He was floored by its quality and loveliness. Size is perfect and easily refillable & there is room enough to clip a pen or pencil. Great gift!

I've wanted one of these journals forever, FINALLY chose this one last year. Its more beautiful than the picture gives it credit for. The leaf latch on the front cover is very well made and has not gotten at all warped or damaged. Refilling is so simple and the journals that fit inside this cover are very spiffy with the cover off as well (which is great for storing full journals!) I can tell this will last me many years, my mother has had an oberon checkbook cover for 20 years and its still going strong.

Needed some more journals bought a few of these lovely art work and can refill. Worth it will recommend

The workmanship is amazing. The imagery of the path leading into a dark forest is evocative and the deep green of the leather is beautiful.
