Suprisingly good for such an affordable system.
I bought this computer as a cheap light gaming system and an upgrade to my ten year old desktop. I was mainly hoping to get decent gameplay out of it on older and less demanding titles like Kerbal Space Program. Getting the Ryzen 7 APU was a way for me to avoid the ridiculous markup on discrete graphic cards.I was very surprised to discover how NICE this system actually is. It not only performs, but it's QUIET. And it was very easy to drop a second stick of memory and a 2 TB SDD into it, and make a very solid system. It doesn't have light-up fans and case windows, but I actually consider that to be a plus. My computer is in my bedroom, and I don't need the light pollution when I'm trying to sleep. The only real downside is that I would need to upgrade the power supply if I wanted to add a discrete graphics card somewhere down the line. I'm also not sure how easy it would be to add a DVD drive to it, the case is a little sketchy there. You would be better off ordering a higher-spec system with the drive already installed, I think. The case is pretty cheap, but it looks OK, and I only had to go into it once.

Good start for upgrading.
I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of this bare-bones box.The Ryzen 7 processor IS all that they say -- very performant.I did not even boot it without adding another 8 GB ram stick for 16GB. I mean "come on! It's got a builtin graphics processor. That is going to take memory from everything else when you play games.I never had something like this before, so I was skeptical -- but it does real good with 16GB.Now I bought 3200 RAM because that is what the specs say about the motherboard. I assumed the 8G stick that came with it would be that .. but no it was 2666 -- WTF? cheap-ass. So the motherboard is smart, and does DUAL CHANNEL at 2666 for both -- cool. Not ideal, but fine. Cheap-ass.The NVME is very fast, and it's the first time I had that as a stock item -- worth it -- it boots in about 6 seconds to login! There were of course about 6 hours of updates for Windows and the AMD parts at first, so that was a thing, but that I guess is par for the course with a Windows box.I have come back to it a few times and found it turned off -- but no indication of problems, no explanation?. No problems found it boots fine.USB3.0 works good and is nice to have builtin. I added an external old USB 24bit Creative Sound Blaster and use that because it is already set up, and the win7 drivers integrated great and all the sound effects and everything work fine.I "debloated" win10 with the windows debloater script and saw absolutely no problems, it is just smooth now, no interruptions. That is really a saver of time and mind.I saw on Youtube that the CPU heat sink is too small for the peak heat generation of the Ryzen 7, but so far all I get is cold air blowing out, even when playing games, so no heat issues. It is also very quiet running.I did a lot of research before buying -- so far I am impressed with the hardware, even though it is a bare-bones PC with a kick-ass processor/GPU combo. I am less impressed with windows 10, but that is not HP's fault. The price is about right for the way things are right now. I paid $549 for the PC and $45 for the extra 8GB ram for a total of ~$600 and I think it was just worth it. $700 would have been to high, but I may have pulled the trigger anyway, as I was "Ready" after all that research.I eventually want to install "Cyberpunk 2077" and play that -- but I have games I already own that I am playing so maybe later.

Powerful, cheap, worth it
Works great as a Jellyfin server. Powerful enough to emulate PS3 at 1080P our of the box. Not much for expansion slots, 1 x16 and 1 x1 PCIe slots. Lots of USB 3 ports. I recommend upgrading to Dual Channel DDR4 to get the max out of the CPU.

Cheap Junk
So I normally build computers for my self and my clients. I grabbed 2 of these HP desktops hoping they would be great loner boxes if a clients computer went down. Yeah they turn on and yeah you can do basic stuff with them, but the hardware inside is just junk. You can not change graphics settings or any thing. The hardware was the cheapest crap they could find. And you can feel it when your using the computer. I would not give this computer to any of my clients to be there daily driver. In the end, I moved the processor over to a ASUS Tuf b550 mobo and got new ram. The system then became usable, Oh i also had to change the cooling for the computer as well. Oh the SSD was a joke as well. I could tell they got the cheapest ones on the market to put into them. Yes you can tell the difference between good SSD and Cheap SSD. The speed is night and day difference. I put in a sabrent rocket 4 plus and wow did that help with SSD speeds. In the end I do not recommend this computer unless you want to just buy throw away junk that is going to need to be thrown away in a couple years. Even then I would say get a better computer. So this is why you should not buy HP computers.

Nice PC
This is a nice computer with a really good CPU for the money. The integrated graphics on the CPU is also surprisingly good for gaming.

Buy it for the 4700g
I bought this to upgrade my 3200g in a different build. The 4700g is awesome. That chip alone is worth the purchase, and that's why that chip alone costs almost as much as this whole system.I like the case. Not to big or to small. I take off 1 star because this motherboard is useless for any other cpu besides 4000 series. I think it's a custom bios for HP. I updated to the latest. First I tried my 3200g. Then I learned after some chipsets don't support older Chips. OK but then I tried a 5600x (I powered Video card using separate PSU). Nothing else boots in this motherboard. 4000 series only.If this really is an A520 chipset it should support 5000 series. From my testing it doesn't.Still can't complain that much. That 4700g is the best APU you can get now. And since GPU's are impossible to get right now. That counts for something.
