White Side router bits
I am a big fan of White Side Router bits. They are made in America and they are extremely well made and are accurate. That is why they are my first choice for router bits.

Great rabbeting bit set
This is the only rabbet bit I could find that could make 3/4" rabbets and fortunately, it is made by Whiteside because, like all Whiteside router bits, this rabbeting bit set is of the highest quality. The bit is really sharp and provides super clean rabbets. The relatively high price is worth it because this is a large carbide router bit.

Very nice bit
Very sharp, and well balanced. Tore through a couple thousand feet of pine without slowing down

Almost perfect...
Revising after some experimentation. Originally I attempted to use this in a Porter-Cable 690LR with an outboard variable speed controller wihtout a good feel for the actual speed it was delivering, and I was getting a lot of vibration Rabbet cuts that had a 'step' in them of about 0.030" in width, about 0.020" too shallow, as if one flute was smaller diameter and cut deeper than the other one. I completely cleaned out the collet with no change in results. After talking to a Whiteside rep (great people to work with), I did some additional experiments. I found a way to measure the actual speed of the router and was able to get very nice cuts with a speed closer to the recommendation given (16000 RPM), and am happy with this purchase. I will definitely look at Whiteside bits for future purchases. My only complaint now with this bit is that the shank is very long. To do a shallow cut the router base has to be almost at its minimum position. I think the bit must be optimized for larger routers, but I'd prefer something about 1/4" shorter. The variable speed controller might have to be upgraded, but that's a different issue -- it doesn't respond well to variable loads.Side note: Whiteside's packaging on this was good -- the router bit comes inside a carry case and the bit itself is encased in a thick flexible plastic coating, preventing almost any possibility of damage en-route to the customer.

You get what you pay for
In the table, this bit has cut flawlessly over several hundred feet of hardwood. I did however cut out some of the rabbit with the table saw for most of the larger cuts. The bit comes with several bearings and has a great variety of given sizes against the bearing. Of course you can use the fence on it's own for other sizes. The 1960 is a very large and heavy bit. Even though it is very well balanced, I would not recommend using this bit hand held at any speed. I have been using it on my 20 year old Makilta 2.1hp router fitted to my router table conversion. My router is fixed at 21,000 rpm. The tip of the cutter is therefore traveling at (6.2x21,000) 130,200 inches per minute, which is 7,400 miles per hour. EDIT: 123 miles per Hour. Please bear this in mind.

Sharp, accurate, very well made.
I purchased the large size bit. It is razor sharp, very well balanced and cuts very fast and smooth. Although large for a hand held router, it cuts so fast and smooth, I had no problems cutting deep rabbits. This bit is by far the best rabbit bit I have used- better than all other brands.I would definitely recommend all Whiteside bits. Best bits made.

Nice quality as all Whitesides have been in my experience.
I've been woodworking since the 80s. My experience with router bits has led me to Whiteside, Eagle, and for large sets to Freud in order of quality. In regard to this set Whiteside delivers setup for the 3/4" rabbet which is the size I required. With a 2HP router on a router table it took off a 3/8 by 3/4 rabbet in one pass in Cherry with no burning. The cut was very clean and required no rework. There was no tear out which could speak to the cut size, wood, or bit. To change the rabbet cut simply change to the appropriate bearing (larger bearings cover more of the cutting edge thus a smaller rabbet). I found the size of this bit somewhat intimidating but also found using a fence set just below the bearing helped control the material.
