Beater brush belt
Didn't know I could find a belt for a vacuum that's over 30 years old. It fit right on and works like new.

Right belt, right price, accurate substitute, saved me a fortune!!!
Ok, so I came THIS CLOSE (pinching fingers together) to giving up on the good ole Hoover Dimension mean green machine vacuum cleaner, in which, I didn't even purchase to begin with hahaha. The old roomate left it behind 2 years ago--used--and it's been working like a charm ever since I moved in 5 years ago. Well, I guess it was time that something had to go wrong with it, but I just didn't know what was ready to die out on me. So I poked and prodded around, just to find out that my vacuum belt had snapped and broke. "Dear Lord, if it's just the vaccum belt," I thought, "then there is hopes of saving me from going out and spending a fortune on that Dyson cleaner I've been eye-balling for years!!!" Luckily for me, this task was nothing new. I used to fix the vacuum belt on my old clunker back in the days in my 20's. Now in my late 30's, and eh hem, being FEMALE...I said to myself, "this job calls for a SUPER WOMAN!!!" Ladies, you can DO IT!!!Anyhow, Amazon to the rescue!!! I just typed in the belt number and wallah!!! All the options!!! Of course, since this thing is ancient and may be possibly going through it's first belt change (or 50th), who knows, I discovered that after my search, it may be that the belt number 38528-027 doesn't exist anymore. Thank goodness for the helpful title...I went ahead and took a chance and ordered number 38528-040 as the substitute.Shipping was quick, I believe it only took two days. Came from the east coast and I live all the way over here on the west. Belt looked good, intact. So after some blood, sweat, tears, and major elbow grease...I finally got the belt on and the brush tucked back in. Oops, during the process heard a few creaks and cracks and had little minor broken plastic pieces on the floor. If anything, I may have done more damage trying to fix the vacuum hahaha. But alas, I shoved everything back together and nothing fell apart. Note to consumers: before putting in the belt yourself, be sure to try to stretch it just a tad bit. Pretend you're playing tug-o-war with yourself, I think this helps prep it for the ultimate final stretch. Granted it was 90 degree F. weather when I fixed the vacuum...I don't suggest trying to fix it in this kind of weather, but I had no choice--no air conditioning available! Ugh! I sweated up a storm!Ok, so the grand finale. Is it just the belt? Or is it the actual machine malfunctioning? Well, I put the plug in the socket, flipped the switch, and tried vacuuming up those little broken plastic pieces as if the vacuum was a cannibal eating it's own flesh. Why hold onto little broken pieces when, I don't even know what part of the vacuum they came from hahaha?! Anyhow, the pieces went missing (good sign) and so I laid down the vacuum and sure enough the brush was spinning like crazy! YAY!!! I just saved myself from buying a $500 dollar vacuum AND/OR hefty maintenance fees all for a mere $2-something!!! And now...my rugs are dirt, lint, and fur ball free! Gotta love Amazon, it's products, and it's vendors!!! A Happy-Home-making-I-go!!! Now if I could only get a maid for that cheap, hmmm.... :P

CORRECT REPLACEMENT PART FOR AN OLD MACHINE
The belt seemed at first not to be the correct one. However, in a telephone conversation the seller assured me that although the part number was new, the belt was the same. After following his instructions for theinstallation, I found the belt worked correctly. The seller was very responsive, prompt, and knowledgeable; the item was appropriately priced. I highly recommend this company for Hoover parts.

It was not picking up surface items like pet hair
I thought I was going to need to replace my vacuum. It was not picking up surface items like pet hair, and I have black furred animals and beige carpet, so that was unacceptable. In a last ditch effort to avoid purchasing something new, I tried replacing the belt. It worked, and I have had no issue with picking up since then. Now, the belt will look too small in comparison to the old belt, but that's because the old belt will be stretched out. It is a tight fit to get on, and you may need a pair of strong hands to help you. I am very petite and not very strong, and I struggled to get it in place, but my husband had no issues. It was easier to find a belt for my Hoover on Amazon than in a store locally.

Elite Belt?
Second set of two that I have purchased. 1st set lasted about 9 months before breaking. Not sure if it is a vacuum cleaner defect or just because this vacuum is used for an office and gets a lot of use. For the price they are cheaper to replace than buying a new vacuum which we did but it only lasted 6 months before it burned up.
